1. Just had a strange moment - was watching a video of the band playing Iris at one of the recent Boston gigs, it was a vid that specifically focused on Edge. As he was noodling around with his delayed riffing, I just had this weird mind blank thinking, where I suddenly thought, here's a guy whose musical stylings, general...everything have played a big part in my life, and yet it felt like it was kind of the first time I was sort of seeing him in a certain light. Can't really explain it, was something like an epiphany moment, like I've been to gigs and watched YouTube clips, listened to interviews etc., but yet seeing him lost in the moment really struck me and kind of hit home. What it hit home with, I'm not sure, but it was a moment nonetheless.

Chances are this reads like the thoughts of some mad git (which wouldn't be too far wrong, in fairness!), but hey, that's what this place is for!
  2. Harry, m'dear, I totally get what you mean. I really do. I can hardly put it into words, but such a moment hit me recently with Bono, watching him sing on stage. It really was like an epiphany, sort of. Impossible to describe

    I'm with you
  3. Warpaint could be described as punk origins. But they don't suck at playing.

believe me, harry, I've had one of these moments, too. glad I'm not the only loon out there.
  5. Ah, Kirsten / Jana - reassuring, to say the least! We can love falling into madness together
  6. Do you guys ever sit and wonder what different eras of U2 would say if you were able to go back and show them later eras?

Example: If you were to sit U2 down in 1987 and show them Popmart, what would they say? Would they be like "yuck!"? Or say "I'm glad we're still around and evolved".

Even more intense, what would U2 in 1980 say if they saw themselves now?
  7. U2 of 1987 were so "serious" they wouldn't have understood the joke and irony of Pop/Popmart.

I've tried asking that question, actually, during that facebook interview thing. it's something I like to think about a lot, and it looks like bono did, too, if you listen to the new rant on bullet.

Very true (about your last line). I wonder if Bono wrestles about that..
  10. 1976 Paul Hewson would be horrified by 2015 Lounge Singer Bono.

Next phase is Rhinestone CowBono. Walking onto a b-stage to people he don't even know. And nobody puts down their phones.

    "Mounts" an assault on sensibility.

    Apologies to Glen Campbell...
  11. 28 years ago today my first U2 show :-) Happy birthday Mr The Edge !!
  12. There are talks of NLOTH on various threads, so I wanted to put my opinion of it on here. It's an amazing album. The first 5 songs are incredible. The album, however, starts losing momentum in a tremendous way after Get On Your Boots. The second half of that album is very plain, and meh. I really like White as Snow and Fez, Breathe is another legit favorite along with the first 5 songs, but overall it seems like they lost track of what they wanted to do half way through recording. Idk, just my two cents.
