2015-07-31 - New York
Tour: Innocence and Experience tour
Songs played: 27
Audio recordings: 1
  1. Anyhow, I definitely do not understand why Jimmy Fallon got as much flack as he did from this site. It was a fun thing to do and it probably won't happen again. I still think it's cool for him to come on as a guest because Jimmy Fallon has always been a huge promoter of U2 in the US.
  2. The only e-stage songs we haven't heard yet in New York are California, The Crystal Ballroom, and Love Comes To Town (if you want to count that one in rotation). The band has been doing a good job making sure they don't repeat any e-stage songs, but if this continues we'll be seeing new stuff soon.

Bad also hasn't been played yet and so far we've seen Bad played at least once in every city except Denver. If these trends are to hold, the chances of getting Bad tomorrow should be pretty good.

Bad was played on the 19th in New York.
  4. Oh I forgot! It was played after Beautiful Day instead of it's usual spot.

In that case, disregard my statement. We may not see Bad anymore in New York...

I forgot because that was the night we got Stuck and everyone wanted me banned from the site.

People in the U.S. get how big Fallon is we don't expect people outside the U.S. to get it. But like I said before the moment was for the people there ( like me and my wife) not the fanboys ( and I'm one 2) listening on a stream. It was a cool moment for us and it's better then most of the fans that come up on stage and don't play in time or get muted by the sound guy. No one gave this much grief to when Acrobat came up and U2 left the stage. The people at that show didn't pay to watch them. I think we will
look back at this tour and say wow those e stage moments were all pretty cool.

for the record, I did state that I don't want a cover band to play a whole song while the actual band leaves the stage. so, acrobat did at least get "some grief" from me, and fallon is getting a whole lot more. because if I had to choose, I'd still rather have a fan on stage than a celebrity, receiving the special treatment for the upteenth time simply because he's famous. yeah, alright, that's how it goes, still doesn't mean I have to like it or support it and I'll never stop saying it either. in b4 "deal with it".

For the record, this is the first time Jimmy Fallon has ever been brought on stage with U2. Also, I don't think it's "special treatment" considering the countless times Jimmy Fallon has hosted U2 as a guest on various shows. As I said before, Jimmy Fallon is probably the number one promoter of U2 in the US, so it was a nice gesture. I'd rather have him than some random fan or another Gareth.
  8. Jimmy's cool. He's come a long way since SNL.

it's the same with this german stand up comedian. everyone knows he's a u2 fan, he never gets tired of mentioning it whenever he can, so he's always there when something u2 related happens in germany. why? because he's famous and he gets invited, he has special privileges. it just totally grinds my gears when I see these faces every damn time (instead of a fan, who gets a once in a lifetime chance and was chosen by pure coincidence). in the fallon case, I can't stand the guy to begin with, so that's his bad luck I suppose (and mine). yes, I'm biased, yes, I'm bitter.

It'll be interesting if they give some songs a chance to prepare for the Europe leg, or if they start to repeat e-stage songs of course. I would love to see When Love Comes To Town back in the setlist. Crystal Ballroom will definitely make an appearance in NY.
  11. Can we maybe leave the Jimmy Fallon discussion for what it is?
Let's move things in this topic to the next show, which happens in less than 24 hours

I've already seen our favourite Sil queuing since early today so let's prep for one of her famous streams.
  12. Also, I got my new I+E Tour T-Shirt I ordered from U2.com last month! It's so awesome and it couldn't come at a better time!
