Tour: Innocence and Experience tour
Songs played: 27
Audio recordings: 1
  1. Not particularly. Sure I like the song but the only two covers I ever want to see u2 doing in their entirety would be stand by me and unchained melody. I'd take all along the watch tower or help back in the day. Maybe still even help now, but that's it. I would have rather seen a hell of a lot of other u2 songs over satellite.

Have you never heard them do everlasting love or dancing barefoot?
  3. ...or Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)?
  4. ...but apart from that, I too think that nyc#7 wasn't that special. Nyc#8 proved once again that it something else than "surprises" that'll make a show stand out...
  5. I agree with everything except night 3. It was my first GA , my wife was with me and it was electric near us. 2 people off the rail near the e stage. Closest ive ever been to them by far. AOH with the brass section was incredible. My first OOC of the tour which is an all time favorite. This was the show I felt the most tired after. Night 8 is the show I felt the most emotional after and extremely proud to be a fan. Crowd made n7 good but setlist was a complete let down. OL-Satellite-EBW =worst setlist pacing of the tour.

    N3 - meh
N4 - all I want is you (potentially my highlight of the 8 shows)
    N5 - entire first half
N6 - two hearts, the troubles
    N7 - meh
N8 - whole thing, show of the run, but in particular out of control, party girl, Bruce and especially 40. It was something else

yeah, if I was there and they busted out October I would have shit too, ditto for two hearts. troubles was very troubled, and this last show does sound like the one I will wait till its the last of the leg for me, love party girl and 40 same show. But over all the band is better than this, and they really better have the next album done if that's what they've been spending their time on rather than trying to shake things up on stage. really the drizzle of "random songs" is like ok we'll practice one song for 2 weeks just to play it once???? though it does seem like they did something "new/different" for every major city. bringing people on stage in Canada, crystal ballroom/miss you, Bad, bad guests and good guests, wanderer and the fly...im now trying to see the light. emoji

Totally forgot to mention this and ask - Night 5, was the band playing differently, like to create a new vibe of the songs and/or stretching out a bit??? your post "entire first half" is what I want to find in these shows, then I realized I was actually listening to that night live here at the party and noticed...something happening?

    Agree
Thought night 3 was great. But we were there versus just listening.

For an arena show with such a large body of work since 1980? That's poor.

    Rationalize all you want.

Well the only reason I didn't write anything about n3 was because I don't actually remember any of it other than the encore..

Very fair point about having such a large body of work since 1980 that more variation should be expected. Back in the days of Zoo TV they didn't have the amount of music they now have today.

And yet, I still think that as U2 puts on a show and not just a concert of random rarities, that the lack of variation (for the most part) serves a better purpose, whether it be Zoo or PopMart or 360 or I & E.

Don't think we'll end up agreeing in the end here (or in the other thread!) so I will just agree to disagree. And end on a positive by pointing out that I'm jealous you've been able to attend so many shows over the years!
