This is super subjective. Sure, their older material had deeper lyrics, but I think the general feel of their new material is better. I still contend that Ghost Stories is probably one of the best things they've done. Parachutes and Rush have most of their strongest hits, but I don't think they've released an album that was 100% satisfying like Ghost Stories.
  3. 100% seems a bit much to me, but there's some very nice song in it, and it isn't over the top like MX
  4. Ghost Stories is one of the very few albums I can listen to in full with the given track order and have a satisfying experience. It doesn't necessarily mean that their strongest work can be found on that album, but it's still a nice feeling to be able to listen to an album exactly as it was presented to you without feeling a need to skip songs or re-arrange the track order.
  5. i think best Coldplay albums are the first three

Agreed on this. I like Ghost Stories and the way it is presented. I can indeed listen to that album in full and enjoy it, especially taking into account the emotional situation that Chris was in when writing these songs...turns it into an emotional journey of sorts, the songs sort of tell a story and connect with each other.

I'm not comparing it to their other albums though - not so simple to compare these stuff.
  7. I like Ghost Stories too, but if I had to sit down and choose one album which I thought was their worst (and by no means bad), I would choose Ghost Stories. There's certain things I really like about the album: lyrics, general theme, the emotions, and also the way they promoted it. I was a fan of the 'we don't have to tour the arse off this album worldwide'. Just a few gigs to showcase what they had, and I'm glad I caught some of the material off it when I saw them in Glasgow at Big Weekend. But they should have quickly followed it up with another album.
  8. I'm very curious as to which aspects about the album led you to rank it last on their list. If I had to rank them, it would be like this.

    1. Ghost Stories
    2. Viva La Vida
    3. Parachutes, X&Y, A Rush Of Blood To The Head (it's very, very hard for me to rank these three against each other)
    4. Mylo Xyloto

If you had asked me before the release of Ghost Stories, this ranking would have been very different as I would have put Mylo Xyloto in the top spot. However, their older stuff grew on me and I don't think MX remained as relevant to me.
  9. Just one: it has the less interesting songs. What else?
  10. I think my ranking hasn't changed much through the years.

    1 - Rush Of Blood
    2 - Parachutes
    3 - Viva La Vida
    4 - X&Y / Mylo Xyloto
    5 - Ghost Snoozes
  11. O is a good song also
