Is there any issue using someone else's code if they don't need it ? Only for seats I mean of course as wouldn't work for paperless

Could work. But again, there's always a risk

I imagine a set amount set aside for each day so it is possible that somebody tomorrow mught get a ticket that somebody today couldn't get.

Lots of us are doing that. There shouldn't be any problem. Presale codes are issued by U2.com and then passed onto Ticketmaster BUT they're NOT U2com-account-dependant, so anybody should be able to use them (hence U2com insistint on "take care of your code, etc" on emails) as long as the codes are valid for that date and you don't overuse them -for getting more tickets than allowed, for example.
(This is all my own opinion though, nothing official. I could be wrong perfectly. Nobody take this as an official claim of any sort)

Why ? You've used your code !! Once the 2016 tour is announced you'll receive a new code for that to go with your new membership. No scandal there !!
