Last Saturday-night, I visited 'The Night of Arts and Knowledge' (De ‘nacht van kunst en kennis’) in the city of Leiden in the Netherlands. It's were I went to university. There were a lot of interesting performances, and one of them was a lecture by one of my heroes: Anton Corbijn.
He was on stage in the 'Leidse Schouwburg' (the local theatre), talking about his childhood, his life and his Photography. Of course he showed lots of pictures and told stories about him working with artists and also U2. I still love the story about Anton taking U2 to see Herman Brood, the dutch artist. They were all going out for a drink together but at 2.30 am, the only place that was still open for drinks in Amsterdam was the famous brothel yab yum, so they went there. “Right, said Bono, what shall we talk about? “ on which Heman Brood replied: “Well let’s talk about the Bible, because there’s nothing more interesting then that!” Just imagine…. :-)
