1. I'm hungry
  2. I fancy some Jaffa Cakes.
  3. I also need to go to bed.
  4. The Royal Astronomical Society says that unlike the solar equivalent, a total lunar eclipse event is safe to watch and needs no special equipment.

  5. I used some binoculars on it.
  6. Careful!
  7. I got a great view of the eclipse last night. It was difficult to photograph though.
  8. I got a good view too, but clouds also made photos hard
  9. I couldn't find a school/study topic, so I'm using this one:
I'm writing a paper about the representativeness of black people in the US police force, but I'm really struggeling to come up with a good opener/reason why I'm writing this paper. I want to use the problems in Ferguson and Baltimore as an opener, but I'm not certain those problems there have some kind of link with the lack of black people in the police force.

So do you guys think that the lack of black people in the US police force is one of the reasons for the problems? And if so, do you have any kind of newspaper article or something which I could use. Thanks in advance...
  10. I think it's a number of reasons: one being numerous people who still stick with the old-fashioned opinion of black people are inferior, which blends into police officers using their authority inappropriately towards another race. But that's more thinking about white police officers and their treatment towards black citizens. It could still be used to relate your argument.

I would look at the likes of Guardian, they have a lot of opinion pieces and factual articles about social issues. Use Google Scholar too, you'll find quite a bit there.

I'm glad Aaron isn't here anymore, as this would turn nasty.
  11. Thanks

The bigger subject behind the paper is ''Representative bureaucracy'' (I chose to use the US police force and the lack of black people there) so I'm trying to move away from the ''white police against black people problem'' but I was just trying to use it as an interesting opener.
But like you said the lack of black people isn't really an important reason as to why riots etc. where happening in those cities. I now use those riots as an starting point for an ongoing discussion in the US about the lack of black people in the police.

Oh and yeah, Aaron would've called you a ''liberal'' for about 29 times haha.
