Thanks, I hope to make it!
  3. I wish they would really shake the set list up. So when I go tonight I am excited as I won't know what they'll play. If the Rolling Stones can still remember (Keith especially) so many songs to play such varied sets each night - and still put on a show, why not U2 ? At best we are probably talking at best 3/4 variations from night to night, but they are really the same, alternated throughout the residency. Surely they have the kit and expertise to adapt all the technical stuff, inside and intimate - get less structured ! Bad, Ordinary Love, Party Girl, Spanish Eyes, NYD, Sweetest Thing, Two Hearts, Gloria, Magnificent played a handful of times. They have a huge back catalogue really think they should dip into it a little more often. Way back this I&E tour was promoted as pairs of concerts with possible different shows each night, acoustic/electric, new/old, everyone was excited. Don't get me wrong, I do love the show, but no harm if I want to "dream out loud." Maybe next year ?
  4. OK, here we go...

    Now you're not alone
    You were alone
But now you are... Rock and Roll!

    Yes I stand by it

Glenn, my friend...don't do this to me
It actually makes a lot of sense, especially the way Bono explains the song, as rage after grief. It's actually one of my favourites BECAUSE of the lyrics. Love the you were alone but now you are rock an roll bit especially.
Oh and piece of ground or thread above a volcano is just a metaphor of how much the rage is / how close he is to a melt down.

Elevation makes sense if you think of it as a description of sex
  5. Everybody, hold your tits!

As often, people place words in my mouth here. I NEVER said "Volcano has no meaning". I said "idiotic lyrics".
And yes I still stand by that. No matter how much you like the meaning, the metaphores can still be stupid.

It's not because a song is ABOUT anger and rage, dealing with a loss, that the translation into the lyrics is necessarily great too. So, in this case, I think it's a stupid way of passing the message. While songs like Kite, Stuck in a Moment and EBW do a much better job at it.
  6. Haha...BigGiRL has checked in to London...

...a bit foggish here, but otherwise perfect conditions for an EPIC show!
(with of course the same ol' same ol' setlist... )

  7. volcano is my favourite SOI song, so I'm afraid we'll never agree on this one, glenn but what's new, eh? hehe
