1. is your ego as big as the paycheck you're taking when you sell those blurays ?
you want people to share their recordings while you sell some mixes done from other people's sources ... isn't it ironic ? don't you think ?
  2. Originally posted by JulienLossless:did you take a look at statistics of iem recordings being released ?
last tour more than 35% of shows had some sort of iem recording in circulation (either in the form of a matrix or as single feed) while for the previous tours it was less than that (except maybe elevaton tour), and i know i was responsible for a percentage of this.

if there were statistic on when these were unleashed to the public you would find that a vast majority of them were from 2009, so that means that the public's awareness of iem recordings began mostly in 2009 (some iem's were previously taken as soundboards ...), and thus the band's awareness of people taping their feeds probably started at the same time, and while previously the technology to encrypt wasn't available it now is so the option of switching their gear is far more possible than it ever was,
I'm still of the belief that if they wanted to encrypt their feeds they would already have done so already. Tapers and those who listen to IEMs are an infinitely tiny percentage of fans and I imagine still well under the radar of anyone high enough up the U2 command chain to care about.

nah, my ego is BIG as you know but not even close in the range to my million dollar paycheck!
PS: what is your problem with me, Julien? what did I do TO YOU?
you still hold a grudge agains me because I commented on your DTS Paris mix? which is btw totally sweet when mixed down to stereo! would have been nice to have your quality mix in stereo and lossless but instead it is lossy and surround music does not work on most of people's systems. I know systems where it works but then we are talking of music recorded and produced for multichannel audio and systems that cost 25k+
that is something we don't have at home and I bet that your mix in stereo would sound better on each and every person's decent stereo system than the mix in surround, even though if people think that they have a high end 5.1/7.1 setup
that was all I said back then
offtopic, sorry, but so are your constant accusations
can we leave each other alone, please?

with soundchecks allowing people to eavesdrop on personal conversations it's another level and the band could decide to take actions against that, it's clearly not the same as recording a live gig. this kind of things almost cost a band his taper's policy of allowing recordings because people were able to listen to their conversation with their iem's (Dave Matthews Band). would you like for u2 not to be pretty open about the recordings ?

you really think your opinion on one of my matrixes has anything to do with it ? get over it i don't care about your 'expertise level', it has to do with the fact you sell recordings, you know ... the line not to cross, and yet you cross it contantly. I've never taken any money for a recording, and you should not, it's simply wrong.

I much prefer them to be open. I'm just not sure of their reasons for doing so is all.

Valid points about soundchecks etc. Hasn't there been suggestions that IEM recordings of the Vegas 97 rehearsals exist in which a few compromising or damaging conversations between band members can be heard? If it exists then it has obviously never circulated in which case it will be under the bands radar so a mute point really.

Either way, the band employ a highly skilled and experienced audio team for their productions. Surely at some point in time they would have sold the benefits of encrypting to the powers that be?

that's what you and a couple of others think
guess how many people (mods from here, mods from German U2 forum and plenty of others) are more than willing to pay for my U2 Cologne videos and have the opinion that work/time/equipment should be compensated? there are plenty of Springsteen fans who would not even download my blu-rays for free if it would cost them no ratio and if they would have the possibilities to burn blu-rays.
I especially bought a camera for the U2 gigs, most propably I will not ever use it again at a gig or in private. for my professional work I use other cameras and for private, too.
Julien, there is not just black or white and who made the "rules"/"laws" ?
can you still leave me alone please and mind your own business? I am not asking for much here.

Haha, Julien accusing someone of being egotistical. I'll accuse of you being... rich.

when someone sends someone else tape a show and pays for accomodations and tickets i don't see a problem (i've already sent people on a free trip to record a show for me) but when it's an "after the facts" production done with the purpose of makign some money it's something else.

you think you're the only one who bought gear ? i spent 1500€ of gear these last two months, including a 4k camera yesterday, especially for the Paris shows. Am i selling my recordings because of that ? no

there is black and white ... there are rules ... you're sellign a recording = you're a bootlegger ... look on the internet what happened to the KTS guys in the 90's when the FBI lured them in the USA to indict them afterwards. What do they have in commun with you ? they sold recordings, simple as that. When you'll manage to stop sellign recordings then i will stop writing about it at every occasion i get when you comment on something.
  10. oh Julien...
    when will you stop?
I am not selling any U2 shows. Stop it man.
Why should you on your own spend all that money for all that gear and people download your work for free? they should compensate you! you can buy better gear, upgrade it regulary etc. but instead you built a private collection nobody will ever have something from
my recordings, all of them. except the U2 Cologne shows, are available to everyone. yes, everyone, even for free on dvd.
  11. You both Julien and Olli are stopping this conversation NOW, feel free to continue it here:

    http://www.u2start.com/pm/

There you can insult and throw all the shit you want in other's faces, but not here, not in this thread, not in public.

Any further posts deviating from the London IEM (or general IEM) recording discussion will be shamelessly deleted.

    Have a nice day.
  12. Love the recording Coggster! Thank you very much!
