This will be my, I think, ninth and tenth time in the Hydro. Amazing place. They should build an arena like this in Edinburgh.
Would love to but a bit short notice now. If I had an easy ticket I might still go for it but I have Belfast and Dublin to go and there's always next year so I'll show a bit of self restraint for once.
  2. Just came across this on a facebook U2 group:

I really would prefer not to fully explain this, but here goes.
Glasgow Rangers are playing at home on Saturday and the hydro is 2 minutes from Ibrox.
The bigoted minority are very anti U2 around Ibrox, so please be very very careful in the bars around that area on Saturday. My advice is stay away from anything west of the squinty bridge.

Not sure how much truth holds it (Kieran, Ross, anyone from Glasgow or near, might explain or deny it) but I thought I'd share just in case.
  3. Hmm a lot of Drunken Rangers fans may not combine well with a lot of Irish flag toting U2 fans. I'll leave it to the locals to comment further. Hopefully no issues.
  4. Interesting. Yes, they are playing at Ibrox that day at 15:00, but I can't really speak to those claims. I'm not from Glasgow, and I don't visit it much; certainly not in these circumstances. I would however be cautious of large groups of drunken Rangers fans at the best of times. At least they're easy to spot.
  5. In other ramblings, it's ridiculous that they're asking for printed booking confirmation for GA tickets. Hydro, I know you're not going to check it. Why make me waste the paper and ink to print out all three of my booking confirmations so I can present it alongside my ID? Which, by the way, you're also not going to check.
  6. I'm a Celtic fan myself. Stay safe at the weekend guys if you are going to Ibrox. Being Irish/Catholic will not go down well with a few of them lot, a minority, not a majority. Just avoid mentioning U2 if you can.

Hard to hide your U2 tshirts and merch

Ok, so there's some truth to it.......... Be safe everyone!!
  8. We're not a violent bunch, not having a dig but they're worse
  9. The whole Irish/Catholic thing isn't that much of an issue now as it was 20+ years ago, but I wouldn't go shouting about whether you're Celtic or Rangers in Scotland anyway.

    This.
  11. Stay clear of Rangers fans - simple as!
