1. Hi,

My name is Skip and I'm 40 years old (great song, but not so sure about the age). I have been a fan since I first saw U2 in 1984. I went knowing only a couple of songs and walked away a lifelong fan! I still remember Bono and the energy and emotion of "Bad". That song made me a fan. My most memorable moment, however, occured in Atlanta in '05 when my son (then 10 years old) was pulled on stage to shine the spotlight during "40"! I was in such shock I hardly remember the moment. I do remember the tears after however (don't know why I cried).

This leads me to a comment I want to make about how great and unique U2 fans are. First, I want to thank everyone who responded to my post about searching for a video of that show. I am amazed by the time and effort that complete strangers went through to try to help me. Several gave tips or even found pictures of my son! U2 fans have a unique passion and caring for not only the band, but also their fellow fans. One of the things I look forward to most is waiting in the GA line and meeting other fans and sharing stories and pictures (Atlanta '01 & '05 and Charlotte '05). Hopefully this old dog can learn a few things and enjoy this wonderful sight and all the great people on it.

Finally, I am a die hard Washington Redskins and Duke Blue Devils fan (hope that didn't create too many enemies). I live in S.C. with my wife, son and dog (she's the only one who hasn't been to a show - the dog I mean).

    Thanks again,

    Skip

p.s. I have also just started taking bass lessons (look out Adam), so if anyone has tips or places I can find bass tabs or music I would appreciate it.

  4. Cool intro. Welcome!
  5. Amazing intro Skip...you got me all emotional! (Guess I would've cried much more if my son would've been pulled up!!)
Anyways, this is a great place, the people are amazing, U2's music and their fans can get you through some tough times, so stay around!

And 40, not only it's a great song, it's a great age as well...well, at least for us Muslims, it's the age Mohammad was when he was chosen as prophet. It's considered an age when you reach...let's call it "mental puberty", and you're ready to think right!

Anyways, I got all religious again! Enjoy the place, and see you around!
  6. You're right: U2 fans are a different breed. Good to have you here!
  7. BTW Skip, you should grab yourself an avatar so that we can recognize you easily!
