1. The new song is crap.
  2. Not impressed from the first listen..will try again later, but the music itself is a bit repelling for me.
I must say, I did like Ghost Stories quite a lot (differ with Sergio on this one!). Was not entirely happy with the detour they took on VLV and MX, but could manage it. With Ghost Stories I thought they're getting closer back to their original form...but this now is weird...

    We'll see
  3. Like Sergio says, I'll probably listen to it once just to know what it sounds like. To be honest I can't recall if I even heard the previous album in full. I think that after hearing the first 3 songs and some songs on the radio (the one about stars etc.) I didn't need to listen anymore.
  4. I'm gonna go listen to Parachutes to purge my ears of that nonsense.

Considering they didn't want to tour their last effort says an awful lot about it, I'd say.

Ghost Stories had 'Magic' which was super catchy. Aside from that, it sounded dismal. Which honestly is normal to not like depressing things. Just throwing that out there.

Oh yeah, I remember Magic. That was alright. Nothing like songs from A Rush Of Blood but it wasn't awful.

Depressing songs like for example U2's Bad or Running To Standstill are great songs,
  7. I can't remember how people around here felt about the first single from their last album, but it was a lot more interesting than this is. Ghost Stories had 2 or 3 decent songs on it, and I assumed it was their Unforgettable Fire. Not in terms of quality, in terms of a shorter, odd and experimental album. So naturally, I was hoping this next album would be a return to grandiose form, with awesome and meaningful songs that sounded like a new and improved Coldplay.

After a few listens, this sounds like a Maroon 5 song.
  8. Their last single was lacklusterly received too, not only here but in general.

They might have lost "it" forever

...well, yeah, it wouldn't be anything from their second album because that was a different concept/album altogether. Generally, that's how making albums works.

I'm going to have to agree to disagree on Bad and RTSS, because sound wise, I don't feel depressed as hell after listening to those songs.
  10. Absolutely agree with the Maroon 5 comparison. First thing I thought while listening, which is a shame. I used to be a pretty big Coldplay fan up until MX, the only song I liked on that was Charlie Brown when they played it live.
I didn't bother listening to the last album at all but I kind of liked a song that was always on the radio, not sure the name of it though. For me the band has gone pop in all the wrong ways.

I agree. GS had some really good songs. VLV was commercial but good; MX simply too commercial; this now is elevator music. Oh well. Though wait... Noel Gallagher is collaborating on the record... maybe there's still hope?
