  1. U2 are reportedly set to sign up for a record run of gigs at the O2 Arena this autumn.

    It’s thought that the Irish rockers, who are currently promoting their film U23D, will outdo Prince’s run of 21 gigs with an even longer residency at the most popular music venue on planet earth.

    Rumours have been rife for months that the band will play the O2 Arena, but now their manager Paul McGuiness has added fuel to the speculation.

    He tells The Sun: “It’s got great potential for U2 and because it’s undercover you can do a run of shows in the autumn.”

    A new U2 album is expected to be released later this year and could coincide with the residency.

    I know there was a rumour before about this but this article was dated for today so maybe it has some truth in it if paul mcguiness quote is anything to go by
  2. He's saying a lot lately about future plans. I wonder why? First he mentioned about the new album due in October and now this.
  3. So after all the hype about U23D it'll soon be U202.

    Not sure how I'd feel about this. It's expensive enough going to concerts without having all the expense of getting to London and finding accomodation. Much prefer to go and watch them closer to home.
  4. 21 nights at the O2? That's a bit much, methinks. But hey, they did something like 11 nights in Chicago, didn't they...so you never know.

  7. I can't believe this it's too much in my opinion, however it would be a good way to promote the new Album and preparation for the next tour so let's see what happens.
  9. These kind of rumors show up every year, I think that even when U2 is dead there still be rumors of U2 playing in the O2 arena, in Paris or at some other city.

    Face it: U2 will never do this, they will only do it as part of a tour, and every tour starts in the US. There is not a chance U2 will play the O2 arena this year. Come on people, we know U2, we know the rumors.

    Not every tour started in the US. From Boy until Lovetown, then from Zooropa onwards was a US start.

    Obviously I meant every tour nowadays U2 = commercial ever since ZooTV and commercial U2 begins tours in the US.

    That is if they start touring this year, I don't think they will, I think they will follow the Vertigo album/tour pattern of releasing an album in October and touring the year after that.
  12. Can't see it myself and I don't really like the idea. They could visit 10-15 Cities and do multiple night here and there instead. Why stick to one venue. Same old audience everynight knowing what songs coming next. Don't like it at all.
