1. 20 or 21 gigs is way too much. I agree, I don't like the idea either...I would love some gigs this year but it is most unlikely.

There will be a day when U2 decides to stop making albums...that's a more sufficient time to play certain gigs. Just gigs which aren't coupled to an album...
  2. Cobblers! U2 will once again kick off their new tour in the US, why?

    1. The US is their bread and butter $$$$$$$$
    2. Capital is required to run a global tour! - Why? Its more expensive to run a tour in Europe - the US has states - the EU has countries - think logisticsi - Kicking off the tour in the US is the deposit for the colossal movement of stages/personnel in Europe (US = road trip/Europe = Shipping/Air-cargo etc. They need cash in the bank to set off the travelling Then back to the US for the big boy concerts etc.! In other words, punters in the US pay more for a ticket than we do in Europe!
    3. U2 love America!
    4. Us Irish prefer a couple of warm up gigs before the homecoming gigs where they ROCK the Country!
    5. U2O2 - not a chance!

    I agree with you...

  4. U2 at O2 Arena? (new rumors)

The O2 arena’s venue promoters have revealed that they are targeting Oasis, Coldplay and U2 for summer concerts.

European Chief Executive of AEG David Campbell has suggested the trio of acts would be among his “dream bookings” for the venue.

All three acts have been contacted about a possible string of dates or residency at the former Millennium Dome, claims The London Paper.
Coldplay, Oasis and U2 are all expected to release new albums in 2008.

They've been contacted, according to this article from Digital Spy

    Also in The Sun:

Paul has been in discussions about a series of gigs around October - when the next U2 album is due out.

And he reckons the new material is their best yet.

Isn't that what was said about Bomb? Granted, it's my 3rd favorite album, but it certainly isn't their best.
  6. Originally posted by drewhiggins21 nights at the O2? That's a bit much, methinks. But hey, they did something like 11 nights in Chicago, didn't they...so you never know.

when did they do 21 nights in chicago??i'm from chicago and if i was alive i would have def. been at all 21! maybe my mom caught a few gigs!!!

The online ticket shop are not official ticket agents. They are nothing more than ticket touts with a jazzy website. The price you see for any event is way over what the real ticket price actually is (or would be if the concert was actually going to take place). Have a look at these reviews of their performance to see the type of organisation they are.

  8. NME fuels the fire :

Band’s Manager hints Irish group may consider residency

After rumours U2 might play the O2 Arena, the band’s manager has added to the speculation that they might now play the London venue.

According to CMU Daily Paul McGuinness has said the band, who are expected to return with a new album later this year, may consider playing multiple dates at the venue.

“The O2 has] got great potential for U2,” he said, “and because it’s undercover you can do a run of shows in the autumn.”

Their residency could follow Prince’s mammoth 21-date run of shows last year.

Oasis and Coldplay are also said to be looking at play the O2 this year.

  9. Sounds very similar to the original source. Either more firming of the evidence, or they copied that source. (NME copies Sun. Euugh).

    Yep.

It's feasible; I doubt it will be 21 nights; it will be a pre-show before a tour next year if it does happen.

That's about it for now I reckon.
