Oopps! Glad you spotted my deliberate mistake.

I was staggered at the AB content and the confidence of the gig. Given the internet was not what it is now the audience knew their stuff. My copy of Bad seemed a bit ropey and one other song felt like it was jumping (almost like a CD skipping?).

But it did rock. Very hard. The summary included my own feelings on it. Not the best for me (I still prefer Dublin in '93) but it was very good.
  2. I'd gathered that you'd entered a comment here and there. Theres only one thing thats better about Milan and that is the 'I was all fucked up' during Ultraviolet. Leaving that out of the Dublin show knocks a point off the entire gig.

how true that is. Dublin has a nice DVD aswell. 92 rocked harder than 93 all round though. I can't decide arrrgghh

I think the only reason I prefer it is because I remember listening to it live and taping it onto cassette (my first boot!). So huge nostalgia waves rush over me. It was the first time I associated Streets and Pride and New Years Day with U2 and it led to a massive wallet dent the next week.

Plus the sound is better and whilst Milan is an excellent audience it can't stand up to a broadcast in my sound-snob mind.

On the topic of sound, could you get that Lyceum rating dropped to at least a 2. Maybe 1.5?
    And bump Milan to 3.5

Ah, good. Well, it's correct now anyway
  10. well Dan mate I think it's time for me to hit the hay. Gonna watch The Bourne Ultimatum to complete the trilogy. As ever it's been a pleasure chatting with yourself. All the best

I must head upstairs now too (I suspect you've gone already...).

You're guaranteed some good viewing there. The pleasure's mutual. Cheers

    Notes...

    - Elevation Tour's first US show in four months; the previous show was in June 22 in New Jersey.
    - A shorter show at only 19 songs; the average length of previous and later shows is 20 songs.

    Sound...

4.5 Stars maximum make it an excellent recording. No more needs to be said.

    Stand out moments...

    - Beautiful Day - what an opening! Almost like the Vertigo / Everyone opening but better!
    - The 'One' speech about generic AIDS drugs and hard stance of the pharmaceutical companies.
    - The NYFD and NYPD onstage during Walk On - a beautiful salute to these tireless legends.
    - New York had changed lyrics, which I thought was pretty cool and Shine Like Stars appears.

    Final words...

This is church! You'd want to go here every Sunday.

    Overall rating: 9 / 10
