    'We are going to try'
Roughly translated 'we may not achieve'

Night mate, i really am tired!
  4. Good night
  5. Is there a reliable English source for this? I want to read what the actual statement was instead of people's interpretations of it.

There's no statement, as its not official. Its based on two things:

    1) Various staff members talked to fans and disclosed this info and the reasoning behind it: new album takes more time.

    2) Sources from national promoters/venues in countries where U2 had tentatively booked venues have disclosed info to the same fans that U2 cancelled all their plans.

The second sources originate from several countries.
  7. Most of this info by the way originates from before the Paris shows, so Paris has nothing to do with all of this.
  8. I still think we might get the 2016 dates announcement after the final shows. It always seems impossible until it is done
  9. I know absolutely nothing, only what I think is logical, but it somehow feels that this can not be IT for the IE tour. And honestly - I don't think that if they now worked 1/2 - 1 year on a new album, they would resume the IE tour with the Experience album done. I can't recall any other tour with pretty much a one year break in the middle. And on the other hand - having another tour about a year after this one sound just as unrealistic. Plus this tour went so well, and there are so many countries and event continents they haven't visited, that this simply can not be it.

Now, about the album - they need more time to finnish it? Until May is not enough? 6 months? To finish it? Really? Beatles made their whole first album in 1 day. I know, I know - a young band, well rehearsed material, a lot of covers. But still... Don't get me wrong, I know and fully agree that they don't HAVE to do absolutely anything, they don't owe anything to anybody, they can do whatever they please. But to kill this tour because 6 months is not enough to finish the album as the reason...sorry, I don't buy that.
  10. For me, I don't think they need even 11 new songs. They can do fine with an EP-like release. 5/6 new tracks. That's how much they're playing of new material anyway. At this stage in their career (I reckon they are near retiring), they should not focus too much on new material, as it is a very slow process considering the previous releases.
  11. Well, it is a matter of opinion of course, but when they release a new album, I really would like it to be an album (as I am sure it will be). A real one - long and consistent, not just a couple of songs put together. That is one of the main reasons I like the SOI - it works as an album. Putting out music on albums and not just singles made the rock music what it is in the sixties and I think it is very important to preserve this format, not just to produce forgettable digital downloads, as it usually is today. Putting together an EP with songs they would perform live would be a big step down. Continuing with the same set or even playing greatest hits setlist would be way more honest. Just my opinion of course.
