3rd show of the tour so far but just a stunning all round performance from the boys. They blitzed the crowd and it was probably the best audience I've been to see a U2 gig with. Considering I've seen them in Brazil, Chile, and Argentina that's no small claim.
So here's some things that stick in the mind that people may or may not like:
- The decision to sell tickets to Irish fans first worked a treat. May not be popular with people here, but at the Croker gigs my mate and I were the only Irish in a sea of foreign people for whom too many seemed more content to film the concert, rather than partake. This crowd was a lot younger than I was anticipating, but whatever the age they were noisy.
- Irish people are just as likely to get their phones out as anyone else, but noticeably this tour people are taking fewer snaps and instead just enjoying the gig.
- The merchandise pricing is shocking! €25 for a water bottle/ carrier bag and €40 for a cap!

- I'm happy for anyone that gets to play with the band (a friend of mine did earlier this tour) and I in no way begrudge anyone that gets up. But I was relieved it didn't happen tonight. It distracts from the band at their most intimate moment in the middle of the crowd (the modified stage worked well here as well).
- Say what you will about the hits, I can't think of one that I would describe as weakly performed and the crowd loves them. Concerts are infinitely better when you get a reaction from those watching.
- Only 8 songs that were in the setlist for Croke Park 3 in '09 were in the setlist tonight. Even accounting for a new album that's a fair turnover for a band that tends to keep changes to a fair minimum.
Hope you all had a good night
