Bloody hell. I'm glad I had no call to upgrade. Does it (technically) actually offer anything (apart from a larger memory and different aesthetics) over my 5G Video iPod?

Trouble with the Sound Dock/Station thingy?

I was getting a very hight pitch tone from the converter on the power cable and interference from the speaker when the iPod was paused or on low volume. Sent an e-mail to Bose, they asked for the serial number and shipped a new power pack free of charge in 3 days. Awesome, and it worked to. Service like that is bloody rare.

Unfortunately you're right. I'm even more persuaded to get one

no forms to fill in, no nothing. Just a quick e-mail from Jamie (no Mr big bollocks), just Jamie. I don't even think their was a problem with the original power pack, it's just that it was purchased in the US and our power supplies differ. Get one.

    What, no

    "Dear Mr McEvoy,
Many thanks for your e-mail. How are you doing today? My name is Austin Mapother III and I have absolutely no clue how to help you but I'm going to write a really long-winded and sycophantic e-mail anyway just to waste some of your precious time so you can't get away to listen to your iPod and tell us once more how much it sucks. We are really pleased to be able to talk to you as we have no actual friends. What was I writing about again? Oh yes. No-one will help you but we'll send your original product back to you without having done anything at all. How does that suit you? Please have a free firmware upgrade that will ruin your shiny product and your day all in one, on us, all for free. Have a nice day "

I laugh at Apples support. They keep your iPod for 3 weeks, send it to someone 500 miles away forcing you to wait 4 more days only to discover that it is handicapped by their new firmware. THEN they send you an e-mail to rate their service looking for praise. Swivel

The 6G technically no different to a touch or a 5G except for cover flow and a different type of material. Space is the same except for the 160GB drive and that's it, and battery life improved by a couple of hours.

It does use different hardware (an utterly-cheap audio chip) which has worse sound. Don't buy one...you'll be sorely disappointed.

Anyway...I do like these from Bose (and the support is pretty good):

Bose® around-ear headphones answer the call for smooth, high-performance sound in a lightweight package. Hear a greater range of music whether you are plugged into a computer or on the go with a portable media device. Proprietary Bose TriPort headphone technology reveals the rich acoustical landscape of your music so you can experience the intricate notes of an acoustic guitar, the full range of vocals and even the beat of a drum with greater clarity and impact. Their ergonomic design keeps them remarkably comfortable and lightweight with soft ear cushions fitting gently around your ears for hours of comfortable listening.

    * Bose® around-ear headphones pull it all together: high-performance sound, comfortable fit and stylish design for an eye-catching, ear-pleasing audio experience.
    * Proprietary Bose® TriPort technology features small ports in the earcups to produce a rich audio performance remarkable for headphones this small.
    * Acoustic equalisation: an innovative Bose technology that fine-tunes the frequency response of the headphones and allows you to enjoy exceptional audio performance.
    * Ergonomic design – experience the impact of your music, not the impact of your headphones. Enhanced comfortable fit and distinctive style plus exceptional audio performance in a lightweight headphone.
    * Adjustable headband and rotating cushioned earcups.
    * Personal and portable – exceptional sound for music on the go. Use the Bose® around-ear headphones with a wide variety of audio sources: portable CD players, DVD players, MP3 players, desktop computers, laptop computers and home stereo systems.
    * Drawstring carry bag: a convenient way to carry the Bose® around-ear headphones and accessories (1.5m extension cable and a 6.5mm adapter plug) wherever you go.

    Dimensions: 19H x 15W cm.
    Weight: 140g.
Warranty: A written one-year transferable warranty remains with the product even if ownership passes to another person.
    Colour: Silver and Glacier Blue.
