1. I really like the album, all of it; I think it's a classic. The one song I keep skipping is California: bad intro, uninspired chorus. They too must think it isn't such a great song, otherwise we'd have heard it more often. It is track n. 3, not a B-side! Re: b-sides, the three of them rock; it is a pity that the non-ghost ones were played this rarely. But they were played at least. I still love the last three songs.
  2. I think the key point with SOI is, does it keep them relevant? I believe it does. Hopefully SOE does the same. It's going to be difficult for them to top their previous work. It's quiet a high standard!
  3. Songs of Innocence blew me away the day I heard it. It still does, every single time I listen. This is my favourite album by any artist, ever, barring one little 1991 record called Achtung Baby...

I love Songs of Innocence. I think that it is hands down their best album of the 21st century, and one of their very best overall. Honestly, when people are remembering U2 thirty or forty years from now, I think Songs of Innocence will be one of records people talk about most nostalgically. As a U2 superfan, I've seen a lot of my friends who have only a mild connection to the band (so for the most part, this was their first complete U2 album listen) come to me and tell me how great this record is. It also really helps, I think, that the band are being so confident about it. Yeah, I have some misgivings about the tour just finished (for now?...), but they aren't a thing to do with the album it was supporting.

Another record this great for Songs of Experience, please.
  4. SOI is good but not class like AB, TJT.
  5. Originally posted by dylbagz:Most of the band's albums are better than this one. Thought it was better at first, but after a tour and a year to listen to it, I honestly wouldn't mind if this album went the way of Pop.. Pop on the other hand..

I could not disagree more. I keep coming back to this album and it feels so exciting every time...almost like it was September 2014 again.
  6. Generally on the tour the old stuff was by far the most powerful. But and its a big but, TMOJR, iris, CR , EBW all went down well. RBW was powerful, SFS didn't go down so well, bit weak like Sweetest Thing is .

I'm still not a fan of tracks 9 and 10, but seeing Cedarwood, RBW and Iris live made me appreciate them more. It's not their finest work - it's perhaps one of their worst - but Iike any other U2 album, it has its moments of brilliance. Crystal Ballroom, though - ooft. Should have been on the album.

Agreed. Sticking to the band's 11-song "rule" for studio albums, I think Invisible and The Crystal Ballroom would have been better choices than SLABT and TIWYCRMN. The fact that the band didn't even attempt these two songs during any of this past year's shows really says something, too.

I still think California is a fun song that would have worked great in the #2 or #3 slot of the setlists.
  9. Try as hard as they may, nothing will ever reach these two....and that is okay.

    I like your new avatar.

(Sorry to ignore all that you wrote here by the way).
  11. For me the one thing that make this album not really amazing is the lack of a powerful music, that put the entire crowd on ecstasy
  12. I still love this album, one of their best and definitely in my top 5. Second half is much stronger and I just skip California and SFS. Miracle is much better live, the chorust doesn't work for me so much as live.
