Joshua Tree Tour 2017
Legs (3): Leg 1 - North America, Leg 2 - Europe, Leg 3 - The Americas
Shows: 52
  1. It would be mega if they did stadiums. The likelihood of them playing Cardiff would increase, which would effectively be a home gig for me.

Although as they were supposed to be playing arenas in Europe, I can't see them playing stadiums anytime soon.
  2. Getting to be excited again Getting a bit of good U2 news / rumours is a great way to start a day. It looks like the U2 fanclub extension until the end of January might have something to do with the tour after all

But no, I don't believe the European rumours are true, it doesn't make any sense. Why cancel all your plans to only make them again a few weeks later? You don't change your mind that quickly when it comes to something like this.

I agree... but do we know for sure that U2 had definite plans for 2016 that have been canceled? I think anything is possible. It could take them 3 years to complete SOE. Or the album might indeed be close to being finished and may be out in March or April next year already. In this case, the could indeed start touring again next Summer, say in May/June or so.

Yep, we/I know for sure. They booked arenas for May-June, then rescheduled them to June-July and then before Paris 1 they cancelled all of it.
  5. More rumours from the same person of yesterday:

    - U2 is in negotiations to play Coachella in 2017.
    - The European tour will start in mid-Spring 2016 through mid-summer, all arenas.
    - The North America tour will start in late summer 2016 and include dates in Los Angeles, San Jose, Salt Lake City, Phoenix and Las Vegas, all arenas.
    - The 2017 shows in South America, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Hawaii will all be stadiums.
    - No word on the stage design for the stadium gigs.

Sorry to spoil the party, but these rumours sound a bit too good to be true.
In fact I think someone is just dreaming out loud...
Anything before fall '16 is just so unlikely...

that's what I think... I believe 2016 is gonna the entire for the new album and 2017 tour, maybe 2018
  8. Interesting rumors... September LA shows would be nice as my ticket fund should be well stocked by then.

Stadiums in Japan? The Tokyo Dome has a size of a stadium, but other than that all bands have always done arena tours in Japan as far as I remember. Doing an arena tour in Europe and US and a stadium tour in Japan makes absolutely no sense. As others pointed out, it looks like those rumours are probably not even rumours. Unfortunately.
  10. Yeah, stadiums in Japan stood out immediately as something that didn't make much sense.
  11. McCartney, the Stones, Bon Jovi, ... they all have done multiple stadiumdates in Japan
