I wonder, have our general opinions of it improved in the time since it's been released? I seem to remember a bit more resistance/criticism of it when it was only a couple of weeks/months old
When I downloaded SOI after the Apple event, it was probably one of the greatest things I've heard. I had it on repeat for pretty much the next month. After the high of getting a new U2 album wore off, it felt like a top 3 album to me. What carries the album in my mind is the fact it is U2 presented in their most accessible form (not talking about distribution, but that certainly helps). For example, I can play this album to my friends who have heard of U2 but wouldn't call themselves fans and there would be at least a few songs on the album they like. Also, the fact they released acoustic versions that sound quite unique is another plus.
