1. 1 The Great Escape - Very interesting. I like the piano, and the rapid rap-like vocals, as Sergio said. This is a good opener, I'm not sure what I think about the singer's voice yet.
2 Judged By - More piano. Very nice sounding, the track becomes stronger after the intro. Nice flow, I like it more than The Great Escape.
3 You're On - More piano, which I like a lot. But I found her voice a little more annoying on this one. And once the piano stopped, it was much less enjoyable. So overall just a so-so track, not bad but not very strong.
4 Notion - This once is quite strange. The intro is very minor sounding and has a strange vibe, I'm not sure how to describe. The drumming pattern is very off beat from the vocals. I don't love the sounds that begin at 1:10 ish but I actually found myself liking this one a lot, especially the cool unresolved ending. Strongest track up to its point.
5 Surreal Medley - A nice, instrument-heavy song. Much more than the previous tracks.
6 Coherence - More electronic I think, and a little more ominous. The drums/beat is a bit more simple. I like this one.
7 Cruel All By Myself - Very quiet and lulling, though it crescendos a bit. The lyrics are nice and pretty deep, but I don't love the instrumentals as much. They're only okay. But still, maybe one of my favorites so far. The only real bother is how she pronounces "fine."
8 Run - At the beginning, the vocals are a bit drowned out by the piano. The guitar sounds almost Middle Eastern. An okay track, it could be better.
9 Vilje - What on Earth is the beginning? After that, it turns into a synthy, icy sounding collection of rhythms/patterns. I couldn't understand the vocals but thy stood out to me more on this one. The electronic beats in places sounded out of place to me, on this track, but were still cool.
10 Glitch - I immediately didn't like the intro to this one. It's very electronic, with some strange vocal effects. The vocals were actually very impressive. I didn't like the "duh duh duh's" much though. The guitar was very welcomed Without this guitar I wouldn't have loved this much. But I did enjoy it the further along it got
11 Sequel - Notably less piano than the rest of the album. This was a good closer, with some of the best vocals on the album and a catchy rhythm.

A good 7-7.5/10 for me overall. What I liked most was that I think every song had a good, effective ending.

Highlights: Sequel, Notion, Cruel All By Myself

It has something to do with the music you choose actually Nah, for me "industrial" has to do with a particular kind of sound that's present on many different genres and bands. U2's Numb is industrial. Maybe it ain't the most accurate term but...

I gave the album a second listen last night, my favourites haven't changed but I enjoyed a little more the few "so-so" songs
  3. Judged By is my favourite track but the ending seemed a little abrupt. I was expecting more from it but then the song just ended, which was a little disappointing. The second half of You're On was good. I'm not a big fan of the intro but after that it does improve and get better. Those were my two favourite tracks, the rest of album isn't anything special in my opinion. No other song really grabbed my attention. I just thought "This is okay, I've heard worse". It could've been better. Nearly every album has room for improvement though.

I'd probably rate it as a 4/10. I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it again, just wasn't my cup of tea.

Glad you like the album. To me industrial is particular kind of sound but like in Nine Inch Nails music or something. .. Numb? No... more industrial is Zoo Station. But it's just opinion

    For me both are industrial
  6. A busy week so I’m only now getting around to this. I don’t have the time to give multiple listens so I’m just going to write my thoughts down as I listen with a few thoughts at the end.

The Great Escape- The piano and cadence in the vocals are hypnotizing. I find it interesting. I expected the song to become tiring or repetitive if the piano kept up but it did not. I like this song, like it’s not my type of music but then again there was a time when I might have said the same thing about U2. I hope the album can keep me hooked, I’m excited for what is going to come. A new type of sound to me.
Judged By- Once again that rhythmic kind of song that I’m finding interesting. Nothing offensive about the music, I like that distortion. I have to say I like the girl’s voice, the song feels dark but her voice is soothing. I’m also a little sleepy while writing this.
You’re On- So at this point, I’m glad I still decided to listen to the album this week. Just looking at the album art I wasn’t sure what to expect but this is like a surprisingly good album so far. This is probably my favorite of the 3 so far, I’m not sure what to write about this without probably going into a big jumble of random thoughts because I’m still a little tired but good song.
Notion- Let me just say I expected stuff like liberal use of power chords or some type of guitar wankery but this album so far has really surprised me in a good way. This song was forgettable though.
Surreal Medley- So I feel like the songs are set up to support the singer, like with how U2 supports Bono’s voice and that is where the melody is centrally. But this song I think is a little suffocating with the singing. I would have liked to hear the instrumentation by itself more because it is the most interesting one so far. Could have been better.
Coherence- This song just isn’t doing it for me.
Cruel All By Myself- This song picked up after 2 minutes. I like the mood or atmosphere that this band can create with their songs.
    Run- I like this song.
Vilje- Strange opening. I can see in this song where LikeASong gets the industrial vibes from. A low point in the album so far for me. Just too foreign to me.
Glitch- Better than the last song. Still kind of weird to me.
Sequel- I like this song but would like it better if I was in a different mood than I am right now. I decent enough song to end the album off on.

Well, that was a nice little introduction to an unfamiliar sound that I would probably never have explored on my own. I liked it a lot, might visit the album again some time, although it was generally a darker mood than I'm used to. As I only gave it one listen I couldn't judge the lyrics since I nearly never pay attention to lyrics in songs until I've become acquainted with a song and like it. The vocals being a central thing musically helped in that regard. Glad I gave it a listen.
Favorite tracks: You’re On, Run, Judged By

  7. Thanks guys for reviews and hope it opened another music door at least for someone Now it's up to me write mine review...

    Euzen - Sequel (2011)

As I've mentioned I discovered Euzen on our Alternative/Multicultural festival Colours of Ostrava. They have three albums so far and this is their second.
It's hard to describe their music. Maybe Northern alternative electronic rock/pop with world music and progressive touches. I don't hear any mentioned similarities with Within Temptation or Nightwish ( and I like both bands) except for that it's band with female singer lol

The Great Escape - first track opens with piano and phrased singing and then going a little heavier sound and finished in great soundwall finale (Sergio there's guitar too ) As mentioned before - this is my favourite track.
Judged By - another great song, love the sound of the guitar here (yes, guitar, Sergio )
You're On - slow nice song with some good moments but average
Notion - second slow song in a row, but better with nice acoustic guitar part
Surreal Medley - next song with acoustic guitar together with piano and electronic with multiple vocal parts finished with enless time? great song
Coherence - love this one! A little heavier track with great piano and feedback guitar parts. Starts with distorted heavy bass riff then goes more dramatic and ends with cut-like finish
Cruel All By Myself - slow athmospheric song - nice but not my favourite
Run - nice song with slow start, great vocal performance and love the drum work at the second half. I miss there some musical climax at the end, but like it anyway.
Vilje - they started the first show I saw them with this track and what a start it was! Sometimes I change tracklist of the album with this as the first track and it works really well. Btw. lyrics are in norwegian and "Vilje" means "Will".
Glitch - good song with oriental sounding guitar and various sampled sounds makes it sound like from another world.
Sequel - title and the last track of the album ends this great album in amazing way - song with their typical sound which ends in just multipled vocals.

Summary: I really love this album. It stands on amazing vocal performance of Maria Franz, but the music would be great by itself too. Sometimes more, sometimes less electronics with interesting effects on guitar and piano - I'm not usually fan of so piano things, but here it fits (as we say) like ass on the pot . Btw they have two more albums: their debut called "Eudamonia" (2009) is more light, slow and athmospheric and their third album "Metamorph" (2015) is more electronic and poppy, but in a good way.

    8/10

    top tracks:
    The Great Escape
    Coherence
    Judged By
    Sequel
    Run
  8. now looking forward what Sergio is about to bring to us
  9. Euzen - Sequel
This band are completely new to me, never heard of them. So, let's see what I think.

    1. The Great Escape - Interesting opening. I really like the pace of the track and how it's driven by the piano, but I'm not overly keen on the vocals. Some describe them as "rap-like", but whatever, when she tries to match the pace of the track it doesn't work. The slower parts are much better. The final minute is very good.
    2. Judged By - Well, this is much better vocally. Starts off quite soft with the piano and becomes a little grittier with the distortion midway through. It all fits together nicely.
    3. You're On - More of that softer piano in the intro, and gradually the various elements are added but it never quite takes off for me. I mean, it's a pleasant song but I really wish it pushed itself and became more.
    4. Notion - I'm not really into this one.
    5. Surreal Medley - Or this one to be honest. Marginally better that the previous song, but it doesn't quite click with me. Cool ending though.
    6. Coherence - I feel like I've heard this one before. Musically I'm on board with this one, not so much the vocals.
    7. Cruel All By Myself - I like this one. I like the way it progresses from start to finish. One of the top tracks so far for me.
    8. Run - I'm not so keen on this one though.
    9. Vilje - It's certainly different and I like it. The first minute and the 3-4 minute are very good.
    10. Glitch - I'm not really into this one, until it takes a turn just after two minutes and suddenly it becomes really intriguing.
11 Sequel - So, so. The latter part of the song is pretty good, but the rest is a little average. I really don't like the solo vocals at the end.

Overall: I think I'll go with "ok". Parts of it were really interesting, but parts of it were quite dull and a little repetitive. I was expecting something a little heavier, a little louder from Alvin, so it was a surprise to hear these soft vocals and piano driven tracks. I think if I was to go back to this one, it would be only to hear my top three tracks below, plus The Great Escape and You're On. The rest I'm not sure I'll miss.

    Top 3 tracks:
    1. Judged By
    2. Cruel All By Myself
    3. Vilje

    Rating: 5/10
