There are no hurries and all albums are gonna be heard, appreciated and reviewed anyway, so let's keep it tidy just for the sake of it

    Bold but probably accurate.

    I have a soft spot for The Dream Of The Blue Turtles, but I'll admit TSTales is quite probably his best work in terms of quality/accesibility/songwriting/impact.

    Thanks for the help! It looked fine on my end. And your suggestion is good with me. I actually posted before I saw Patou had posted this week, or I would have waited...

    We can use mine for next week, just a few extra days to explore if anyone feels so inclined...

    Dominic Miller at his finest on guitar, and Vinnie Colaiuta taking over drums from Manu Katche was a fresh approach. (Not that Manu Katche ever did any wrong, mind you!)

    Good album, never heard of the band, I think I will listen to more songs of this band, they sound cool!

  11. Yeah I'll definitely be reviewing Sting's album today or probably tomorrow night. Real life is keeping me real busy! I had a few spare hours yesterday but spent them listening to Tim's liveshow. It's all Tim's fault y'know.
  12. I’ve been too busy with work and school to do these past few weeks but I have a day off and what better way to put off doing homework than an album review?
    I’ve never dug into The Police or Sting’s music before but what I have heard I’ve generally liked. I’m happy to try this one out!

    If I Ever Lose My Faith In You- Heard this song on the radio before but didn’t know the name of it. Good song, simply but catchy music and Sting’s voice is a good one so nothing to complain about here.
    Love Is Stronger Than Justice- I find this song kind of cheesy, lyrically anyway. It’s fun and the story it tells is strange. The speaker saved the town from bandits and then killed his brothers because there was only one maiden? Weird.
    Fields Of Gold- A nice relaxing song. Common Sting stuff though.
    Heavy Cloud No Rain- Sometimes I think Sting can be a little wordy. He tells his song’s story and the words just spill out of his mouth in a constant never ending flow that makes it hard to enjoy what is there musically. This song is a victim of that I’m afraid.
    She’s Too Good For Me- Strange choice to have that simple old rock and roll/rockabilly sound interrupted by those strings. I like that string part more than the rest of the song so I wish it was longer! Oh well. The song had a good bit of humor in it too with the list of everything wrong with the guy. He doesn’t seem to have any good qualities. The album is surprising me so far.
    Seven Days- This is one of those songs that I imagine when I think of the kind of music Sting makes. I like it a lot. Something about the rhythm really gets me. I laughed out loud at the “Sunday be too late” grunt at the end. Favorite song so far.
    Saint Augustine In Hell- I don’t know. Maybe it was because I liked the last song so much (I replayed it a few times) and this is just a cool off period, but this song doesn’t do anything for me. Although the line, “Hell is full of high court judges” caught my attention. Morrissey had a line “I bear more grudges than lonely high court judges” too, what’s with the judges in the UK that Sting and Morrissey don’t like? Probably a dumb thing for me to get caught up on.
    It’s Probably Me- Simple soothing song. Not much caught me here but I liked it nonetheless.
    Shape Of My Heart- Interesting song. I think I have to come back to this one later, seems like a song that will take some time to appreciate more. I like it.
    Something The Boy Said- Another song that didn’t really hold my attention.
    Nothing ‘Bout Me- A really fun song with another catchy rhythm. Lyrics are funny but have a point. Sting is a funny man.

    Overall, this was an alright album. There were some things that bothered me but the stand out songs more than made up for everything. I’d like it more if the songs were less about the lyrics, more about the music or that Sting would put more of a melody in his singing. I’ll have to eventually look more into Sting’s work, maybe a “Greatest Hits” since whoever picked the singles does a good job of getting the best. Top Tracks are Seven Days, If I Ever Lose My Faith In You, and Nothing ‘Bout Me.
