1. After grading midterms, time to listen to a good U2 show to fight depression.
  2. 400 years ago, two of the greatest writers of all time, Cervantes and Shakespeare, died.
  3. Yesterday my dad and I were in Gelsenkirchen for the Schalke football game. Towards the end of first half, around 7pm, my mom called from home.
Our neighbour's house stood in flames!! Also the trees surrounding it. We live in the countryside here, and the forrests surround us from three sides. So it was very likely the fire might creep up the road (neighbours are 200m down the road) -- and set our horse stables on fire, too.
So we ran out of the arena and drove home as fast as possible.
To make things short, twelve firefighter cars from four units were there. The fire in the wood was soon under control and stopped before it reached our barn.
No person was seriously injured! Thank goodness!!
But our neighbour's house burned down from roof to basement. Firefighters still working there now, it is almost 10am in the morning now. They were there all night.
A whole family home destroyed. We know them for 25+ years. A sad day it was. who cares about football in such a moment
  4. Bloody heck, KIrsten, what a frigthening story!
Glad to hear the fire is under conrol.
    Wishing you Strength!
  5. We are okay, it is our neighbours who have now lost everything

  6. Forgot to share this when it was fresh. Not a man to be trusted at face value, but still...

  7. This is a big tragedy, i hope your neighbours can get over this slap in the face. Sometimes, life sucks!
  8. Wow, Ms. Merkel, sticks pretty deep into Mr. Obama's butt! TTIP confirmet!

Really bad luck ..how are your neighbours now ?
  10. Pato, they are at one of the children's home downtown now. The house is completely ruined. No idea what will happen to it now. When I am in the back of our property and peek down the road, I see the house with these enormous black holes where the fire ate its way through the walls and windows. Like a silent dead face staring at me. Creepy
  11. I can imagine ...really sad
