1. MANILA, Philippines - As talk persisted among internet chat groups that the Irish rock band U2 is set to play in Manila, Inquirer Entertainment sought to verify the wild rumor.

The information we gathered was exciting enough to share with readers. “Yes, we’re working on it,” said an officer of Concertus, an events, concerts and marketing affiliate of MTV Philippines.

Unconfirmed date of the impending gig is sometime in October (the e-groups have not mentioned their sources—the same month that the new U2 album is set to be released.

U2 might perform in September/October to increase sales on their new album, I think.

Interesting...they've never played the Phillippines, have they? I wonder why they'd start to play there now--if the rumor is true.

Would be first muslim country for them to play in, right?
I'm hoping they play Dubai or Turkey on the next tour...if they do Philippines, that comes closer to reality!

The Philippines aren't what I would call a muslim country (80% catholics).

And I take any bet that they won't play there.

Surely they'd go Glastonbury before the Phillipenes. Any insight as to why U2 keep refusing Glasto?

Looks like they pissed off Michael Eavis (founder and organiser of Glasto) several times and now he doesn't even want them any more...
