Midnight is my favourite track, I love the ambient vibe that song has. The only skippable track for me is Another's Arms. Definitely the weakest song on the album. All the others I like. Oceans, True Love, Ink and Midnight are all tracks I've been playing a lot lately.

Just a side note but I really dislike how quiet some of the guitar parts are on AHFOD (the album). They need to be more prominent imho. For example, Birds and Everglow live have great guitar parts and are so much better than the album version. There's a great solo in Birds which is really quiet on the album version. Also that single edit of Up&Up is terrible, cutting out the second solo like that
  2. He said that about albums five and six too I reckon

Hmm, I've been considering revisiting Ghost Stories, just to give it another shot.
  4. Three years ago today

  5. Aye, I remember him saying before X&Y came out something to the effect that it was probably going to be their last album.
  6. Awesome! I met him at Birmingham Elevation 15th, they were big at that point, but not on the scale they are these days obviously. The guy who I was stood with at that show spotted him stood right behind us both in the walkway of the heart just before U2 came on stage and asked him outright... "are you that bloke out of Coldplay?" lol, he playfully denied it was him.
  7. hahaha gracias

@Caledonia nice story Chris. You mean 2001? Well they weren't nowhere as big as today by then so definitely a different story. Nice that he was already playing with denying lol

Yep in 2001. The guy who I got talking to in the queue that day who asked him outright if he was the bloke out of Coldplay, asked if he could have a picture taken with him, and I took one for him, hope it came out alright for him, as I remember my hands were shaking a little bit, I suppose I got a tiny bit starstruck lol, and there were quite a few people looking on at this point. Really wished I'd asked for a pic too now as I'm sure nobody believed me at work and stuff. I think I was more focussed on U2 coming out and Dallas mucking around with Edge's Explorer or whatever.

I liked Coldplay at the time and still do, I'd seen them perform at Glastonbury on the TV a year or maybe two years previously and like many thought they were something a bit special, not a hardcore fan as with U2 though, I suppose I only have room for one or two major obsessions in my life and those spots are filled.

I also remember coming off the flight to Dublin for Slane #1 from East Midlands Airport (I didn't get to see the show in the end because of ill health - was stranded at the hotel in bed all weekend gahh! i still cry into my tea about that regularly!), and saw a bunch of Coldplay's stamped flight cases going round on the luggage carousel, I didn't see any of the band members knocking around at the airport, so I imagine it was some of their roadcrew on the same flight taking some gear over.

Its a great piccy you have there, he looks relaxed and happy, I met Jim Kerr about 15 years back now and had a picture taken with him and the other members of Simple Minds, and someone distracted him with something or other at the point of taking the pic, and it didn't come out the best lol. but its alright, I still treasure it, no doubt you do with yours!
  9. Just over a week until the European leg starts and under a month until my show. Can't wait.
