1. To be fair, he only said that it's the most exciting stuff since ATYCLB, he never compared the albums.
  2. the word "accessible" and that he felt the need to point out that "it's not pop" immediately gave me an atyclb sense though... atyclb might have been the right record at the time, but looking back now I wouldn't want a new album to have anything to do with atyclb tbh.

I suppose atyclb stood (or still stands) for maturity, eg experience, after the wild 90s. so if that's why they're looking at this album and are trying to match it in that sense... okay, I get that. but sound-wise? please no.
  3. Exactly
Some of the younger fans might not remember what a re fresh comeback that album was. 2000-2001 u2 where back and people loved it. Was it the best album top to bottom? No but it was for that time exciting album and tour.

    Bingo!
  5. oh god.... ATYCLB... this not going anywhere exciting....
  6. Well Gavin Friday says more "aggressive sounding" than SOI, seeing as its Gavin, I'll go with that. Aggressive accessible U2 sounds good to me
  7. I'm a lot more intrigued by the "couple of SOI" leftovers that might find their way into SOE.
I'm guessing Northstar? My wet dream right now would be Boy Falls From the Sky, but obviously that's a very very very long shot.
  8. And also, outside the U2 hardcore fanbase, including U2's inner circle, ATYCLB is very often regarded as the U2's 3rd masterpiece, only behind TJT and AB (and Pop is still at the bottom of the list), so it's no surprising that THAT's the album they're trying to top, even if it doesn't sound like that.

Exactly. This album brought in an entire new generation of fans PLUS brought BACK older fans that left after zooropa and pop. IMO one of their most important releases whether you like the album or not.
  10. ATYCLB has great songs. These are my favs
    1. Beautiful Day
    2. Elevation
    3. In a Little while
    4. New York
    5. Grace
    6. Kite
    7. Peace on Earth
    8. Walk On

I think this is a good sign, but then again they said SOI was Punk Rock, going back to their roots.. i like the album though
  11. Peace on Earth?
  12. well, that's the point... did tedder mean the SOUND of atyclb or what it MEANT at the time. the latter I could accept.
