1. Man, I hate earphones. Headphones are so much better.
  2. Yeah, I've all but given up on earphones now. If you're the sort that can get on with IEMs then great, buy some good ones and travel light, but I can't. They hurt my ears and / or fall out all the time (yes I've changed the tip to every size and material known to man). It's a little more awkward but I just travel with headphones now. These ones to be specific (prepare to gasp).
  3. Yeah they hurt my ears too. I'd much rather have a comfortable listening experience. I dont usually listen to music on my phone, If I want to, I try to use my headphones although thats not always possible.

Those are on ear headphones, right? I prefer over ear.

They are on-ear yes, and I'm not tgoing to pretend they're overly comfortable, but isolation and quality are truly incredible. I use over ear open back headphones (DT 880 & HD 558) at home and Ive got DT770s for closed back over-ear goodness, but my DT1350s make for the ultimate travel headphone. I just can't be one of those guys on the train with their gigantic ATH-M50s on... Besides these sound way better anyway.
  5. Im surprised that with such good headphones you couldnt make out the registration at Belfast 1.

Audio Technica are great. I have the M40x's. I love them.
  6. Hey everyone

I've been gone for so long! In that time, I've been putting in many many hours at work, being promoted twice actually and assisting several of our booking agents here at the talent agency. One of the agents I work for specifically focuses on the Chicago-area, so my connections here in my hometown have grown exponentially. With that comes more shows, etc., etc.

Also got a girlfriend and she's like, real great. More on that later / as I continue to hang around here, I guess.

But what I got SUPER excited about, and knew I needed to tell you guys right away, was that I have an audition tomorrow evening to be the new guitar player for the midwest's biggest U2 tribute act! They're called WithoutU2, and I've watched some live videos of them online and though I think there are things that could be improved (being the perfectionist I am), they look like they have a lot of fun and I would be honored to be touring around the midwest USA a few dates out of the summer playing full U2 sets! The setlist for the audition is:

    The Fly (U22 Version)
    Vertigo (Rose Bowl)
    Stuck in a Moment (Slane)
Where the Streets Have No Name (Slane)
    Mysterious Ways (Vertigo Chicago)

I'm pretty pumped! A little nervous, especially because I haven't fine-tuned my pedalboard in ages, but hopefully they'll get the gist that I'm totally capable of playing the tunes and will be working on the sounds full-time if I am accepted.

I've done a little looking around and it looks like most of the usual suspects are still here How's this place holding up without me?!

  7. Best of luck Matt! I'm not posting here that much anymore either. Been quite busy with my first semester at the programme in medicine. University is out for summer now though I sort of almost want to go back though, it's a lot of studying to do, but it's also very stimulating and fun. Bring on the second semester this fall
