    It's a big change, but it's over a two-year period.
    Interesting times...

IT WAS a left/right issue, but not only that. It has been also an issue of racism/tolerance, selfishness/kindness, fear/confidence, disruption/respect.

You're basically saying everyone who is against the EU is a racist, selfish, scared unrespectful person?

Me personally, I'm all for a European Union but with some borders, not the way as it is now. Getting countries like Ukraine and Turkey in the EU is just plain stupid for example. The differences are waaaaay too big to ever be able to be together in a normal way.

It really wasn't. There are certain things that it makes sense to have unilateral control over. Wanting power over your own borders and trade is sensible and appeals to all walks of life.

Calling people racist because you disagree with them isn't cool for many reasons - namely that it
    a) it disavows the horrors of real racism
    b) It makes a serious problem into a 'buzzword'.
    c) It fosters and nurtures a state where people are afraid to have open discussion on certain issues for fear of being labeled or marked as racist.

I respect the people who vowed to remain.
I only ask for the same respect in return.

    No, I'm not.
I'm saying that racism and xenophobia have played a big role in the campaign and both sides used it to their own advantage, which is not good.
I'm not saying any of the sides represented these values, only that the campaign and the election has been a left/right, fear/confidence, etc. issue.

    See post above.
  7. Fair point.
  8. English nationalism has won the leave campaign. I feel at a disadvantage as a result. I imagine the Scots feel the same. That kinda sucks.
  9. It's so unfair for Scots, they voted Remain a few months back just for the sake of staying in the UE, and now their mother kingdom leaves it. It's disgraceful.

Let's hope those scenario's you're pointing out aren't going to happen, altough I really dislike Clinton I hope she wins in the US.

Trump or Clinton... Either way we're screwed here, too. But honestly, Clinton scares me the most. I'm hoping if anything here if this election cycle stirs up anything, it makes people realize that there is actually a viable 3rd party, and the only we'll have change and break the 2-party deadlocks and pissing matches is to bring a 3rd party aboard. Trump and Sanders (good or bad) at least managed to wake up a sleepwalking nation... GARY JOHNSON 2016.

It's always a left/right issue in these matters. People need to wake up and break out of the old traditions. There is always middle ground. People have the power!

Raise the white flag. "Hold it up, let it fly!"
