1. The album get's under appreciated sometimes. Good to reed here that a lot of you like most of the album.
I just love Magnificent, it rocks !
  2. SUC - Awesome B-Side that somehow managed to sneak on the album instead of the amazing Winter.
Boots - Good song that never should've been called as the leading single of an album that sounds nothing like it at all.
MOS-UC - I don't know who came up with the idea of placing 2 great BUT really slow songs of 6+ minutes each, one after the other, but I don't like him.

I really love the album when I play it on this order:

    1. Fez
    2. Moment of Surrender
    3. No Line On The Horizon
    4. Breathe
    5. Unknown Caller
    6. Crazy Tonight
    7. Get On Your Boots
    8. Stand Up
    9. White as Snow
    10. Magnificent
    11. Cedars of Lebanon
  3. The song order was dreadful, I agree there.

    My prefered tracklist is:

    01 - Breathe
02 - Get On Your Boots (skip)
    03 - Stand Up Comedy
    04 - Crazy Tonight
    05 - Fez / Being Born
    06 - Unknown Caller
    07 - Winter
    08 - White As Snow
    09 - Magnificent
    10 - Soon
    11 - Moment Of Surrender
12 - No Line On The Horizon
    13 - Cedars Of Lebanon
  4. I always liked the order that Linear follows.

But there are too many stinkers and the high points are low for U2 for this album to be any good for me. Songs of Innocence was the logical step after Bomb (which hinted at U2 sort of "looking back").

Always wonder what that Rubin album might've sounded like. If Window in the Skies and All My Life (heh) are any clue, it might've been amazing.
  5. I really have no problems with any of the tracks on NLOTH - even Boots and SUC. Are they U2's greatest songs ever? Nope, not by any means, but I think they're both really fun, you just have to be in the mood for them. Boots as a lead single was an absolute mistake but I can't shake the feeling people might like it better if it hadn't been the lead single, and Magnificent, the obvious single choice, or Breathe or NLOTH (which should have been singles) was instead.

On the note of MOS+UC back to back... It took me a while to warm up to it but I've come to really like the way they flow together into one narratively-linked ballad. I'd have loved to see this played live like that, if MOS wasn't such an epic closer. I like the idea of them doing a sort of 'heart of darkness' late in the set that culminates with MOS, then UC brings the light back in, and is followed by an upbeat rocker like Beautiful Day.

Additionally, Stand Up Comedy would have been an excellent live song, I'm sure of it. It's a little cheesy, yeah, but I think it's just the right amount of cheesy to be fun and lighthearted but not throwaway.

Mercy and Soon would be nice addition.
To me it's second best album since Pop (first is SOI) and still may be in or very close to Top 5 U2 albums.
compeletely man stand up got me singing it alot... its funny im just coming back to this album for some reason...got MOS in my head

Agree to disagree. Even the songs that are half-decent sort of fall flat for me.

I never really understood the love for Moment of Surrender, try as I may to love it.
  8. i love this album, i have the superdeluxe edition and the dvd of "linear" with the song "winter" is one of bst thing of u2 for me. I'm realy emotiotioned every time i watch and hear it. Love.In my opinion is one of the most expressive work of the band. When you watch the film it seems to me to understand deeply the hystory, the life, the soul of Ireland and of u2. Sorry ,it's like a book or a film, a form of art that gives to me many meanings. Hope you all understand what i feel.

Yes, U2 have many sides. That's what i find so interesting. You think you heard it all, and than the next album
is just not what you expected or different and it gets under your skin. Later on you find yourself humming a melody or a lyric bit. It's so cool. The most i had this feeling with Achtung Baby, but also with other albums.

I like it! Loved this opening sequence of NLOTH songs (beginning with "Soon") that they did on 360 in 2009. I'll never forget my first live show with them experiencing that. As for the rest, I might personally switch MOS and SUC so that MOS and Cedars are kind of a two-part finale, but other than that a great track list.

Also, I can't really imagine what the I&E tour last year would've been like if it had included any NLOTH songs, but I do think it's a shame that they increasingly abandoned the album from 2010-onward. Like others have said, if only they had had the courage to pursue the Moroccan-inspired sounds further.

Well i have the feeling they are gonna play it again next leg. It depends on what SOE sounds like, and if it fits the set list. I thought it was cool to begin the show with older songs (innocence) and show how they have been
growing as a band, only with songs of the latest album SOI.
I'm not sure, but i think they might do the same thing, only show their experienced side? But that is playing save maybe.
