1. it indeed is.

Come on people...SoA was just talk. This one has a whole tour names after it, clear indications that the tour will continue, clear reports and pictures of the band in the studio regularly .... be more positive
  2. It's hard to be positive when your band has done the same thing over and over and over again for the past 10+ years

Moreover, being skeptic makes the surprise even bigger when they finally deliver

I get that...my point was that they haven't done this before!

    Agreed on the skeptic part
  4. Update: Bono sighting this week in France (makes him sound like a UFO). Speculation = vacation, especially since Adam appears to be posting from Brazil. I tend to agree with the "devil in the details" final mix theory:

They could have completed all the songwriting, or might be giving the final touches to the basic structure of the songs [this is my choice], or might be finishing the proper final recordings, or might be completing all the producing and mixing.

I do not think they've gone past stage 2. Stage 3 would be good since there would be just mixing left, but we already know mixing and producing is the stage where U2 take up the most time (and fuck it up more usually). So I'm definitely cautious about this.

I do agree the album will most likely come out this year. However there's one piece missing no-one had discussed much yet which is the mechanics+logistics of stage design, building the concert narrative, and rehearsal (not only of the new materials, but if an SOE tour is anything like SOI purely from a tech and blocking perspective, there's a long way to go. And we want to make sure Edge is in attendance and knows where the catwalk ends) The first couple US shows, felt like (awesome) dress rehearsals, in comparison to the last shows in Dublin. Let's say hypothetically the album drops in late Sept. I'm guessing at least 3-4 mos to get the tour logistics and rehearsals finished so am very dubious about the tour picking up in 2016. Early 2017 seems more realistic. Pray its not an overblown monster like 360 again - which was, great, but felt flat in comparison to i+e. I'd be really really happy with more of the polish and mindful story/musical arcs of the "Innocence" tour in the "Experience" tour in smaller venues again. I+E 1 tour was lit as hell. Can't wait for the next one.

    So true!

Also, they're recording in Rubin's studio...All My Life was a song recorded during the Rubin sessions...

All My Life confirmed song on Songs of Experience.

Getting me all worked up here
  6. Perfect timing. I've got my sick new job just in time to spend tons of money on new U2 material + concert tickets.

I agree that early 2017 is more likely. But I am not sure how new the new tour will be. It may be a continuation of I&E, with the same stage and a few changes. (I think they'll drop the bulb and opt for something more ZOO like.)
  8. The band themselves are not sure. They've hinted at stadiums several times, then at arenas... They are not sure what they want to do. That's why I just don't buy the theory that they will resume the tour as soon as the album is published (either it's this or next year). No way!

Ah true reusing the same stage, new graphics etc. But still...new material, blocking/lighting -- unless that's going on in San Tropez ...

    ^^

Good one. I'm sure with those pros in St Tropez Bono has already called and fired Willie Williams!
