As for the rest, I might personally switch MOS and SUC so that MOS and Cedars are kind of a two-part finale, but other than that a great track list.

I just don't like two very slow songs in a row at the end. I didn't like 360 ending with WOWY ans MOS... I like some energic song at or near the end

I kinda agree with you on this one. As much as I loved Moment of Surrender Live, closing with a slow song is rubbish. I didn't actually know, untill i found out myself, when they closed their Glastonbury set with Out of Control .
  3. My review of the Album, One of my favorites

    01. No Line On The Horizon - This track sounded fresh and nice Riff. The bridge in the song is very prominent in the song. It has a nice melody to the vocal tracks. best album opener?? No but it is decent. 7\10

    02. Magnificent - This probably the best track in the album. The guitars and melodies screamed classic U2 to me. I never get tired of this song. 10\10

    03. Moment of Surrender - The 2nd best track of the album. I loved all elements of the song. The bass , Guitar ect.. only gripe is that it should've been later in the album 10\10

    04. Unknown Caller - This song is a great example of experimental from U2. It is chill song to listen while driving on road trips. I like how it's structured from beginning to end. The solo is killer. Should've been later in the album. 10\10

    05. I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight - One of the more faster tracks in the album. The lyrics are really deep once you cipher them. The song should've been higher up in the album. Only grip is that this version was not played at all during 360, only once to record the music video. This song is underrated. 9\10 - Remix 10\10

    06. Get On Your Boots - One of my least favorites in the album. The most high energy song in the album. It should've opened up the album. The complaint i have is that it doesn't fit in the album. Sounds like a HTDAAB outtake. it is cool though. 7\10

    07. Stand Up Comedy - Highly underrated song in the album. great guitar riff. Only gripe is the lyrics don't do anything for me. It's cool to listen to though. 6\10

    08. Fez – Being Born - My 3rd Fav of the album. Very experimental, and that is what i love about U2. It actually 2 songs mixed in one. Fez is an instrumental song. Being Born is the one with lyrics. I love everything on this track. It should be played live during the next leg of the IE Tour. 10\10

    09. White As Snow - This track has a good concept but it doesn't do it for me. I like the melody though. Still undecided 5\10

    10. Breathe - It is a kickass track in general. One of the highlights in the album. Needs to be higher up in the album. 10\10

    11. Cedars Of Lebanon - Most underrated song in the album. This song is deep as hell and hits me. This my 4th fav track in the album. i always listen to this song. Needs to be played live. 10\10

I loved this album alot. Was it my fav?? of course not but it is in my top 5. I love all albums

    Final Rating 8\10

    1. Achtung Baby
    2. The Unforgettable Fire
    3. The Joshua Tree
    4. Songs of Innocence
    5. No Line on the Horizon
  4. Somehow felt a need to listen to this again. Had the title track stuck in my head, love it. I will still never grasp why there's unanimous admiration for Cedars of Lebanon, though.

    +1!

Because it's musically/vocally different to all U2 songs since Velvet Dress , and because it tells a story from "someone's" (aka not Bono's) point of view.

  7. To me THAT is the reason why NLOTH had such a short life and why they seem to have disown it.

When you see how personal is every single album from Boy to Bomb and then SOI, NLOTH is totally out of place. NLOTH is a collection of good/great songs but they're not their songs.

They're a very emotional band and I don't think they really "feel" NLOTH songs. They might be great musically, experimentally, poetically or very interesting from a story telling point of view, but U2 has always played from their hearts, and NLOTH lacks heart in that sense.

That's why they were willing to die with SOI, but not with NLOTH.
  8. I'd never thought of that and I will concede you have a very good point ...

...but on the other hand I wonder where's the personality and emotion in their biggest 00s singles: Elevation and Vertigo

I'm of the idea that those songs (specially Vertigo, -1,2,3,14 included-) have a meaning a lot deeper than it seems on first sight, so they're still fair game to me.
  10. ya going on "song stuck in my head alot" i give MOS a 9/10

Wow. Agreed that this does explain a lot. Do you think this also extends to why not many Zooropa and Pop (especially Pop) songs are played anymore, either? Too much irony in this case and not enough raw personality?

Then again, though Achtung was very personal in the sense that Edge's divorce influenced the whole "love gone bad" theme that Bono's lyrics play with, it still obviously has a sort of ironic identity too. EBTTRT? The Fly's character crank calling from hell? The whole resulting Zoo TV alter egos? Bono's quoting of Oscar Wilde that "the mask reveals the man" and his inspiration from The Screwtape Letters makes it seem like their songs can be just as much from their "hearts" in a different sense.

Interesting to think about either way. And probably why I still am drawn to the "characters" on No Line...

I don't think you can find more personal songs such as Please, Wake Up Dead Man, Mofo, etc.
