1. ... and in another U2-nniversary, 23 years ago we had the "ultimate" MacPhisto moment when he visited the Vatican

During our Italian dates, in a performance-art moment, I had myself filmed walking across the square at the Vatican. MacPhisto had developed a limp at this point so I had a walking stick, and I was shooing the birds, dressed as the Devil, walking across the Vatican Square, muttering under my breath, 'One day, all of this will be mine. Oh no, I forgot, it is mine.'

  2. cool pictures guys!!
  3. Love McPhisto
  4. This goes better here:

Zoo TV show, better finished with Love Is Blindness alone OR with LIB > Can't Help Falling In Love?

    Spoiler (click to toggle)

I'm torn. I can't decide. I love Falling cover with the falsetto and all, but LIB is such a powerful song and sometimes I feel like the world show should just end with it.
  5. I am unsure... Personally I think the sheer outer space cataclysm of Love Is Blindness is quite appropriate for a closer. I do like Can't Help Falling In Love, though. I think my general opinion on the subject would be that LIB should've closed most ZooTV shows, with CHFIL as a rare treat, not a regular part of the set. The audience singalongs are the best part of CHFIL, so that's nice.
  6. I was in LIB camp until I read U2@TEOTW... the way CHFIL is described made me appreciate for the first time how awesome works that song as a closer of those shows.
From then on, a ZOO show closing with LIB seems incomplete to me.

I tend to agree with this. Can't Help Falling In Love should have been an exceptional closer (just like Are You Lonesome Tonight? during Bono's birthday in Rotterdam) with LIB closing most of them. The audience singalongs and Bono's falsetto are incredible (as well as the book's explanation as Raven says), but closing with LIB is magical, dark, moving and just something else. Probably my favourite show closer ever, even above 40.
  8. my thoughts are fantastic when i hear something like that, it's a dream this supersax on "Bad"

Same here. I've often thought about this, too... I think with CHFIL they took an incredible closer in LIB and made it even better. And for me, it's like LIB points out the dark and overpowering nature of love, the danger of this kind of surrender and what it might lead to...but then Can't Help comes along and is sort of like "yes, but I still can't help it!" For all of the ugliness that selfish love can result in, there is still something pure and beautiful about "giving yourself away..." Like Bono mentioned in Flanagan's book, that falsetto represents the little boy coming through still despite the corrupt man he's become. Perfect for MacPhisto/fat Elvis!
