So just about six weeks after the regime ended in my country, I was able to listen to U2 on the radio (I hadn't known their music, just had seen a photo of them in a magazine and thought they might be interesting). I nearly fainted when I heard Bono say my country's name in Pride.
I still have the tape I made on that day, awful quality by today's standards but it has priceless emotional value for me.
So I was over the moon when I managed to get a ticket to a U2 concert in Dublin's 3Arena last year - the exact place where my devotion to U2 started back in 1990.
I've got almost the same, but 3-4 years later with live broadcast of Zoo TV Dublin 1993 I am also from Czech and it was on the Evropa 2 radio station. My friend taped it on cassette and I still remember the comments of radio anouncer (sometimes totally wrong - they started to play Streets and he was anouncing I Still Haven't Found ). And I remember that it was Bullet The Blue Sky what was the main highlight of the show (to me). And that's why I prefer 1993 ZooTv than 1992.

Oh yeah, I've go that one too and then 1997 Sarajevo, again on Evropa 2 (?).
  3. Yeah, but Sarajevo was without the comments
  4. listening to "unforgettable fire" and watching the video of red rocks/Colorado many many years ago during a vacation in Spain. Concert: for sure Rome Stadio Flaminio Joshua tree tour and Live Aid in London.
  5. Achtung Baby when I was 8 years old. My first favorite band was Genesis, when I was 4 years old.
  6. Rattle & Hum, i went to see them play on the Lovetown tour in Rotterdam and i was hooked.
  7. Elevation live from Boston 2001. Especially the opening 3 songs.
  8. New Year's Day video when it was on heavy rotation on MTV back in 1983. Then Sunday Bloody Sunday. Saw Red Rocks on MTV back then as well. When UABRS came out, I was hooked. Played that cassette too many times in my car.

I was absolutely crazy about them. When UF came out, I was a senior in high school. Camped out for tickets and got 9th row. Saw them live in the Hollywood Sportatorium in 1985. People still did not know who they were back then and would always ask me U2 Who?

No one asked me that question anymore after TJT.

Best concert I ever saw until show 7 at Madison Square Garden last summer. Yes, like a fool I waited 30 years between shows. I am happy to say I was front row for that one!
  9. The first 3 songs on the Joshua Tree. Must have played my mums CD dozens of times before letting it play through. Was always aware of the bands current stuff at the time (Elevation era) so bought Slane. Game over.

Was at both nights at the Sporto! Great shows, but seeing them graduate from Sunrise Musical Theatee to the Sportatorium I knda felt like I lost "my band" to the rest of the world...
