    Rock's Hottest Ticket is still one of the best sounding bootlegs (and best packaged) around!

    To this day I still consider that bootleg from Denver the gold-standard when it comes to my own personal ratings. If a bootleg can make me feel the way that one does, it's definitely a keeper.

    Yes, it's brilliant.

    The only bad thing about it is that the band was a little constrained with all the cameras and filming members around the stage. In fact, many fans still think it's the night that was filmed for Rattle And Hum, even though it was the 8th!
  7. You got it. I had no idea these bootlegs were available. The one and only bootleg I have is a CD I bought in Germany.

    Looking forward to listening to this on mu U2 iPod.

Me and my cousin used to listen to the 1990-2000 compilation when we were but wee young'uns (must have been 11 or 12, can't remember when that was released) whilst staying up late playing various games on his old Xbox - Mysterious Ways generally stole the show on our neverending playlists. When I got hold of the 80s/90s compilation not long after, there was no turning back - Streets always blew my mind (still arguably the most complete song every written, for my money's worth) and October as the secret track just after the sheer power and joy of AIWIY used to make me well up because it was so stark and haunting. That said, Achtung Baby was the album (as in actual album > compilation) that stole my heart, and (as I'm sure those of you who know me will be very much aware) WGRYWH became my song, and still is. So many others come close, but those huge chords and that rhythm track, ahhh - shivers down the spine.
  10. Already said this one before, but here it goes again:

    I was already a casual fan (Pride, TJT, NYD, SBS, etc...), but the moment I vividly remember as my "engagement" to U2, was a few years later, watching a tv special about them on a sunday morning on the local tv channel... among several videos, they included Bad from the Rattle and Hum movie (released a few months earlier and which I haven't had the chance to watch).

    That was it. The face of Bono totally absorbed into the song, lost to the rest of the world, screaming his lungs out (I love screaming singers), the snippets, the crowd, the spotlights and the shadows dancing in black and white... and then at the end of the song he finally has nothing left to give and rests for a fraction of a second on Adam's shoulder before leaving the stage as the music soars to that emotional ending.

    That's the moment when the miracle occurred for me.
    I didn't have a clue what the song was about (I barely understood a little bit of english back then, although I had the lyrics), but I decided that clearly that was the best song ever by the best band ever.
    There was no going back for me.

    (After that I went to watch R&H over and over and over. That's why I love the Denver 8th bootleg a lot more than the 7th, despite its rather crappy sound)
  11. I was born into the band. My dad is a die hard fan as well. He's been to every tour since Zoo Tv. I think 15ish shows total in his life? Even been to Hawaii at the Vertigo closer.... bastard... lol My very earliest memory of U2 was the Zoo TV VHS my dad and I used to watch all the time. I remember my parents leaving the house to go see the Popmart tour and then begging them for them to take me. Probably would've been sensory overload for a 6 year old haha. My first show was Elevation when I was 8 or 9 years old, and I've been to every tour since. The songs that I remember liking when I was super little was Bullet the Blue Sky and Until The End Of The World. I've been told that I used to sing and ask my parents to put on "She Moves" (Mysterious Ways), but I was so young I don't remember. I should ask my dad how he got into U2 though.

    This is great. I was in a similar position when I joined here a year ago... how this all exists and why I didn't knew about it?!

    For what is worth, from TJT my favorite bootleg is Austin (thanks to Cesar's suggesting it), great sound, great crowd, great performance, great emotion. IMHO way better than R'sHT...
