  1. Pop is anything but pop in 2016.


    But if you compare Pop to pop in 1997, you can hear a lot of similarities. I'd expect something like this to be very obvious, especially since there seems to be so many people who tout this as U2's best work.

  10. Aside from the fact that it sounds as though Bono is singing for Coldplay, what is with the lyrics? How is it that someone as politically active as Bono has moved away from singing about what's happening in the world, and in particular this current world, to this mess...

    "You're the best thing about me
    The best thing that ever happened to...
    You're the best thing about me
    I'm dying/trying/tying...in joy"

    Am I being too cynical or am I just pining for lyrics that are relevant to the world like they used to do Bullet, Zooropa, Walk On etc? One potential song on an album, I know, but jeez

    Well, lett's just wait for the rest of the album and tour. I dont think he will ever ignore that side of him.

    Well, first, it's one verse and Ali is part of his world. Second, if you didnt find anything relevant to the world on SOI, it's to revisit it.

    Even "I'll Go Crazy", "The Fly" and "Get On Your Boots" had there messages. More between the lines, but they were there...
