what they said

"Poland was probably the highlight of the tour. During New Year's Day I turned to find some water and when I looked back, the entire stadium, 80,000 people, had disappeared under a red and white Solidarity flag. I could hardly speak let alone sing. It was a really emotional moment for anyone who was there. They felt we had stood by them in that moment when they went on strike for democracy and wanted to show us they remembered." - Bono on the Vertigo tour

did you know

In the live performance of 'The Electric Co.' from 1983's Under A Blood Red Sky, Bono sang a snippet of Stephen Sondheim's 'Send In The Clowns'. U2 had failed to get permission for this 27-second snippet and later agreed to pay a $50,000 penalty as well as removing the snippet from later pressings.
