    Interesting how he's improved...compare those to The Best Thing vocals...was it the surgery or what?
  3. He had an all time worst from 1997 to 2002, then he has slowly improved. I think it has to do more with singing lessons and learning to adapt his voice usage to his current state.

    No, he's allergic to some (desert) plants which affected his voice. It all started in Nevada at the start of Popmart indeed. He only knew the cause during the Elevation tour. That combined with long and many meetings for Jubilee 2000. (U2byU2)

    I know the allergy thing... but no allergy is sustained for 5+ years

    That's a cop-out. Fact is he was not a trained singer and partied a lot and smoked like a chimney. He has improved but the effects are still there.

    He didn't know about the glaucoma for years either
    But yeah, drinking and smoking will have had something to do with it too
