1. I always thought that Are You Going To Wait Forever was one of the best songs of the HTDAAB sessions. Better than One Step Closer and better than LAPOE, and they played that song almost every night in the tour...
  2. The JT/R&H b-sides as far as I'm concerned are a great U2 record.

    I can agree with that

Yes! So good! Definitely well said about the bridge between Pop and All That You Can't Leave Behind

After reading U2 By U2 I often wondered if the "Big Girls|" were in reference to the models that they used to hang out with? I remember they called them Big Girls.

I always picture a really fun video for this song.

Off Topic but same with Playboy Mansion- I always picture a video with the band there and Edge strumming the guitar while floating in a pool.

Big Girls was for Ali, who was pregnant at the moment.
  6. Levitate and Flower Child (Native Son is also very good but not as good as Vertigo)
  7. LWASH, BYHD, Levitate, Mercy, Xanax and Wine, Winter, Kingdom, Invisible and Crystal Ballroom
  8. I will never be able to fully express how strongly I feel about this: Xanax and Wine is SO MUCH BETTER than Fast Cars. Can you imagine how cool Xanax and Wine would be live? It'd be begging for Edge to develop an extended solo for it.
  9. Two Shots of Happy, One Shot of Sad: Unique song...could've been a change of pace for Passengers...but it probably ended up where it belongs.

Love Comes Tumbling: not at all a single for me, but a great song
Salomé: Great obscure song, but no chance as a single

'Big Girls Are Best: Despite the Pop sounding track, and Pop being one of my top 3 albums...a B side is where this belongs

Spanish Eyes: It would have been interesting if it had been on the Joshua Tree, and been the 4th US single instead of the stellar "In God's Country," would it have been a hit? Probably not, but I really wish I knew the answer, since it is a huge favorite of mine.
'Lady With the Spinning Head (UV1)' : They got it right when this was shelved, and Ultra Violet was born. Still, it is way cool to have this song as a B-Side.

'Summer Rain': So much weaker than the album tracks, though Grace gives it a run for its money...

'Dancing Barefoot' : Wonderful song, but as a remake, I tend to ignore those, but what a great song!

    "Walk to the Water"
"Luminous Times (Hold on to Love)" : Unfair of me to group these as one song, but as a soon to be 18 year old, it was so awesome with two songs on the same 45! The atmosphere of these songs made it almost impossible to imagine either of them on a radio station anywhere other than that weird college radio guy sneaking them in at 2:00 in the morning. And I like it that way. Both should have been saved for Rattle And Hum to give that very strong album a further jolt. To this day, I argue Rattle And Hum should have been two separate albums...one studio and one live.
  10. I strongly agree that R&H should have been split onto two different discs/albums - that way they could've fit on more live tracks and new tracks, and it wouldn't have been as jarring as switching back and forth.
