    All kbps above 192 are not hearible for human ears with normal sound systems. 320kbps is the max a computer kan play, every bitrate above 320 is useless. I'd recommend to convert every bootleg to 192kbps max, you won't hear any difference between 192 and 400 or so. Plus, files get much larger with such high bitrates, not really usefull for the people here who are sometimes even on dial-up.

    Transcoding mp3s from 192ks to something higher is pretty pointless. It won't add anything to the quality, just blows up the size of the files.

    You'll have to take the original lossless files and re-rip those to a higher bitrate if you want "higher quality"...

    Indeed. That's right. Nothing but increasing file weigh will be done if you encode from 128 to 192, from 224 to 320. Anything good.
