  1. Oh, I didn't mean to imply that they SHOULDN'T play their other big hits - the 80s anthems are Classic U2, and without at least some of them in a set, that would really weird. A setlist of 20 or 25 deep cuts would be amazing but it CERTAINLY would be a terrible decision for anything other than a couple of special shows.

I merely meant that these are the only songs that I feel absolutely CANNOT miss a tour concert right now. If there's a couple of shows here and there without Pride or Sunday Bloody Sunday or One or whatever, that'd be ok. I feel that those three are the songs that right now absolutely have to make an appearance in any major set for it to make much sense.
  2. Originally posted by CMIPalaeo:As I've said before, I think right now the only songs that should permanently have a place in U2's set are Streets (forever) and BD and Vertigo, because they're U2's two most recent, familiar big hits, and both of them still generally have a lot of kick live - Vertigo especially, and it's hard not to like BD, at least when you're hearing it.
See... having seen songs like I threw A Brick, Surrender and Wire live, I might argue that those should be permanent fixtures. And I'd take COBL over Vertigo hands down anytime...

And RattleandHum1988 makes valid points... While I'd have no problem with Pride being retired, it's a part of their legacy, and the big anthems, as he said, are a part of their live culture. And while I would relish a set of 20 deep cuts, I'd be a very small minority of the ticket buying public... In fact, I'd love for them to revisit the 2 show per city, different set concept... 1 night hits, 1 night deep cuts... I know where I'd be leaning and where the tickets would be easier to get!

Another prediction: One will make it back in every night. It's (perhaps) more relevant now than ever to what's happening in the world...

The things I would do to see the shows you've seen
  6. It's all a matter of perspective... Not dissing BD or Vertigo, but I can say with near certainty that if I could pick 20-25 songs for the setlist, they wouldn't make the cut. If I were doing rotating slots, BD might possibly slide in...

Now... (and here comes that word again!) In the battle for the ever changing relevance... CMIPaleo is spot on, which is why BD for sure, and Vertigo will be mainstays for the near future. These came as the millenials were coming of age... The 2nd generation of fanbase, spawned from Luminous Times. But alas, I think we may be getting WAY off topic here...
  7. 13 HOURS!!!

    probably....

My buddy chatted with Dallas last night after #U2 rehearsed and mentioned,”they practiced the new songs but can't get it together.” #U240

    typical.
  9. I'll get up early as a bird
  10. Would love them just to play 4 or 5 sngs off Boy and 11 O'clock Tick Tock..
  11. If they did do that, this would more likely be the setlist. I can't see them playing An Cat Dubh/Into The Heart , Stories for Boys, Twilight ect...

    1. The Ocean
    2. 11 O'clock Tick Tock
    3. Electric Co.
    4. I Will Follow
    5. Out of Control
