I think that huge part of the problem is just that "two option" thinking. The whole idea of compromise and political coalitions has become so alien in the States that the outcome of the next election is that 49% of the voters will loose for sure. And then there was this divided nation...
I thought Bono was at his best last year when he told people about the Irish peace process: the victory of compromise. Now THAT would be a message to open up the eyes of the American public. A long term perspective perhaps, but certainly more valuable than stepping into the Clinton campaign.

Agreed to an extent here. U2 are at their political best when they put their feeling into the music, just like the songs you mention. What we have with these Trump visuals and re-worked versions of politically irrelevant songs like Desire is a little cheap to me and doesn't carry the same clout as a Please or a Bullet.

Sure, but can't expect them to come up with a new song about Trump all of a sudden... By the time they've finished it there would be new elections already.

No doubt but this is how Bono does it these days (not just about Trump). He stages rather than writes. Much less powerful.
  4. Hey guys, staying up late here in the UK to catch this live. Does anyone know of the best possible stream that will be available?

Well I can't argue with that. You're right for sure.
I guess it's better than nothing... I mean, Desire was still a pretty cool stance imo.

Well, Desire made sense given the theme of the song - Trump is sort of the Mirrorball Man but with worse hair and no cool suits.

I dont understand why Bono is only against Trump. Hillary is more corrupt and has been caught and their both idiots. It makes me feel like Bono is becoming what he didnt want to be by being apart of the whole situation.
