  1. I think its a good idea to get Ryan Tedder involved, he rights his own tunes that do commercially well and sound decent I'd say. He's also clearly a good judge because according to what I read he was responsible for the 'new chorus melody' on every breaking wave which made the song a complete standout compared to the fairly average version that was played live on the 360 tour. That alone is enough to convince me.
  2. Eh...not exciting news for me. I'm not a big fan of One Republic. I'm still optimistic, but I was and still am really hoping for those heavier, guitar-driven tunes that were reported a while back. Maybe the 'remixes' mentioned will be released separately from the album, but be prioritized in terms of radio play?

  6. Doesn't worry me much. Yes, I do prefer the Danger Mouse stuff over the Ryan Tedder stuff on SOI - but I like them all anyway, and they seem to have made a good connection.

    Aside from this, he says 'remixes'. That, to me, it means they'll have their original songs in their own style, and have remixes out there to reach different audiences. Nothing wrong with that.

    That's what I am hoping for. Which I am cool with. I would like for them to take the same songs and appeal to both an old audience and a new one.

    U2 and co. always say this shit before an album is released. U2 have had slews of remixes since the 90s.

    If a producer wants to come in and make U2 sound modern, that isn't scary to me, it's exciting. Some people call what U2 does these days as their sound or style, others call it "Dad rock", and "dad rock" is "washed up" and "novelty act"'s ugly cousin. I would be down to see U2 being cool again, and a bunch of 50-something year olds aren't going to achieve that without a younger helping hand.

    I maintain that California is an amazing song on SOE because it sounded incredibly modern (by U2's standard) with those sweeping chorus synths. And yeah, I'm one of the few who think that Best Thing "remix" or whatever the hell it was sounds WAY exciting.

    Call me what you want, but sign me up for more of that stuff. We have enough of U2 being U2, and they'll always be U2 no matter how much they try and change with the times.

    I actually think it would be a super cool idea to have like 11 songs written in U2 fashion, and have people come in and "remix" them without getting them TOO different to the point of not being performable, and just release that as the album.

  9. We talk about remixes as if they are universally terrible, but let's not forget the fact that remixes do not replace original material. I'm actually more comfortable that they use the term remixes after talking about more collaboration material because it tells me they could be thinking about a standard SOE album and a secondary SOE remixed album.

    Personally, there are some remixes that have become playlist staples for me, such as Mysterious Ways (Solar Plexus Club Mix), Salome (Zooromancer Remix), and of course Even Better Than The Real Thing (Fish Out Of Water Remix).

    Basically, until I start hearing some tracks, I'm not going to be too concerned. I really liked the track Kygo teased us with and I'm excited to hear the base song for that particular remix.
  10. My dream would be for U2 to take one producer and go off, record 5 weeks, and release it on the 6th or 7 th week. Not over produced and U2 sounding only like U2. This is the time to do it because they can immediately release it and I think it would be great. I think it would be popular too but thats besides what I care about
