1. Great explanation...! You might be right with that one..
  2. Sweet God Lady G!

    That's some post. Nice
  3. First Of All Thanks ladygodiva For this Explanation

2nd i don't think this song about the trouble in ireland

I agree with the opinions that states that this song about materlialism and people tend to escape this materialism and all the greed and all the bad things in the world like wars by escaping and the way they escape is by staring at the sun

to yourself Lady G!! That was one hell of a post...I had NEVER seen it as something related to the troubles...this opens a door actually, and it fits many of the lines, so may I see that I mostly agree with you on it?

I just had a look again at Plato's cave thing, and I really believe that your interpretation fits it much better. To be honest, I never understood this song fully meant...couldn't relate the lyrics together, and not even the cave analogy helped...your interpretation seems to fit more than the others!

I think this 2 pieces of your amazing post, resume pretty much what the song is about...
For me, the song is about that, is about turning around and looking away from the real problem or the real issue, jsut because it makes you more comfortable!!! eventhough going "blind" is not a walk through the park....
    it's a pretty heavy argument...
and I don't think he refers only to the Irish Government, I think he's talking about the rest also.. specialy to the rest of his country's fellow man...

the second part about "sucking on my thumb" to me is one of the best lines of the song... because thats GUILT !!!! in neon lights!! and you're totally right!!! it's you who decide to go blind, it's you who decides to turn around from the ral issue!!

    does it make any sense??
    cheers!!

    Yep

    Nice posts guys

    Who's choosing tomorrow?
  8. Johhny
I am sure that you are right there and it is his fellow countrymen that Bono is referring to also.
I'm sure that I have read before that in his view people who stand by and watch cruelty and violation of human rights happen and do nothing to prevent it are as guilty as the people who carry them out.
And this is why he believes that the work that he puts in to help aids suffers and the starving in Africa is not a choice, but because he can he must.
  9. Who's turn is it to choose the next song??
Would anyone like to choose 'If You Wear That Velvet Dress'???
  10. Hmmm...the others don't seem to be around (Casper, Aaron, Robbie, Justin, etc. )...I would say it's Casper. I'll leave a note in the General Chat for him!

Well, what an honour... I never really shared my opinion here about a song (although in read it all), and now I may choose one...

I'm not supposed to choose one from Pop, do I?
