I saw Prince on his Piano and Mic tour in Sydney; he had two venues the Opera House and the State Theatre and how it happened was that the Opera House was more popular but had a more complex ticketing system whereas the State Theatre was a less 'publicly popular' venue with an easier ticketing system.
Me as a resident of Sydney however, was of the opinion that the Opera House tended to be an overrated venue especially when it came to the interior of the building so I went for the State Theatre venue and was successful ..
The only issue with this strategy however was that Prince seemed to also know this and as he was a real stickler with his setlist this time it came to be that he gave the Opera House attendees a slightly better selection of songs than the people who went to the State Theatre, I went to the first show and not the second at the State Theatre where he played Time which was really cool for them.
And he played some songs at the first State Theatre show that I didn't care for much like I Love U In Me, not a big hitter when you inspect the lists of the other shows he played in Melbourne and Sydney.
I'm not disappointed though overall because I am obviously just grateful that I could go seeing that I am in my 20's, a Johnny-Come-Lately to the whole thing and as I went by myself and it's only bad if I choose to be extremely particular about the set that was played, which isn't my place.
This experience reflects the one I had on U2's latest tour where I saw them in Stockholm and spent the entire concert staring at Adam Clayton praying for them to play a song from Pop, and where I grimaced in his face when they decided to play With or Without You so high up in the set. Why put it there?
Coldplay again in San Diego next October, this time on the floor. Spent an absurd amount of money on the tickets, but whatever I think the floor is where you have to be for these guys.
Still waiting for one of the ridicoulusly expensive Phil Collins tickets. Online paid for, email said ticket sent off on Oct25 - just contacted eventim where my ticket is now. Awaiting their reply
My girlfriend got us tickets to go see The Fray tonight, has anyone seen them before/are they any good? I think they opened on the 360 tour for some shows but I don't remember.
