1. Hi everyone, I'm starting my first forum discussion, I hope it is in the right section.

After Trump's election, and considering the version of Desire at iHeart, do you figure out if Bono in next tour (when he'd probably be 57-58) should bring this character back on stage, with phone calls to the White House almost all nights?
Do you think it would be possible? I mean, 1992's Bono and 2016-17-18's Bono are completely two different people, and not only for the age, but also for his political activism that made him being "friend of the big ones", and making prank calls now maybe could ruin his image (even because I think them two are gonna meet someday).
But Mirrorball Man is part of U2's history, and it is great everytime they pay homage to what they have done in the 90s.
So, you guys, what do you think?
  2. I think he should come back
  3. I don't think it's going to happen, because they don't repeat themselves, even if it was very successful. I do expect a new political rant in the next leg, about keeping the American dream, but it will be something new, hopefully without megaphones.
  4. Holy shit - this would be fantastic.
  5. The return of the Fly during Vertigo was amazing, so an updated and perhaps even more fractured Mirrorball Man would be excellent (not to mention necessary).

    Yep I would agree.

Also the White House phone calls at the time were to an outgoing President. If they were to do something of a similar nature next year when Trump is in office then I think it would probably be counter-productive to Bono's work in Africa and beyond where he's probably going to need Trumps support and involvement on various aspects (yeah, good luck with that one I know) - just like he has done with previous presidents, as well as a whole host of people neither he nor U2 ever wanted to be associated with to any degree.

That said I think Trump might be one step too far for Bono and the rest of U2 to want to associate with. Dancing with the devil and all that. But maybe it's something that Bono will actually relish and feel he has to do for the greater good just as he has done with many others in the past. It will be very interesting to follow how things pan out over the coming years.

All that said I don't think we'll be seeing Bono suck up to Trump, so like I say its going to be really interesting to see what Bono does and says in the coming months with regards to Trump. Trump's interested in building walls, I think Bono's more interested in building bridges.

^ You got it right here.
