The greatest magic trick Trump and his group pulled out is to make believe the people nothing particularly terrible was going to happen with him (to non-minorities, that is).
It's been one week since the elections and he hasn't even taken office, but there's already been more conflict of interests in his transition than the entire Obama administration in 8 years. He wants to take all his sons and his son in law to classified briefings, he wants to keep all his businesses and live in Trump tower while president, he wants to appoint people in the White House with direct ties to their boss' businesses.
Steve Bannon, the leader of the alt-right whose platform explicitly says that the white race is at risk because of "multiculturalism" in America is now chief strategist. Anti-evolution Mike Pence is VP, batshit insane Rudy Giuliani, who has earned millions working for foreign governments and exile groups (while hypocritically shouting "lock her up") is the front-runner for Secretary of State.
Twitter has banned accounts for alt-right members. So now not being a bigot is literally a requirement for Twitter, but not for the White House.
How is any of that the same thing as with Obama?
    I'm anti-evolution.

Even if trump is full on racist, it's not like we haven't had racist presidents before...Andrew Jackson and Woodrow Wilson for instance.

Look no matter who he puts into offices of 'importance', the bottom line is that he will not be able to do everything he says he will - and he'll whine about it on twitter...

To be fair Obamas treasurer "forgot" to pay is taxes for 5 years, Barney Frank got caught with a male prostitute, IRS deliberately targeted republican groups, Holder was apart of the Fast and Furious scheme, and when Obama was initially hired he accepted the intimidation group The New Black Panther's endorsement. The group the stood by voting places with guns in Philadelphia. I think all administrations have really bad people working for them. It just goes with having alot of politicians working together
  3. Fair points, but Obama (or Romney if he had won) never appointed a well-known bigot, founder of a white supremacist group in a White House position, let alone chief strategist.
He never appointed someone that denies climate-change into an environment agency.
One thing is to have people involved in corruption or sex scandals (impossible to control all of them), and another thing is to appoint people with no qualifications whatsoever for that position and with a massive conflict of interests.
And I'm sorry, but being "anti-evolution" is like being "anti-gravity".

Been saying that all along, already Trumps Great Wall, that was going to stretch 1000 miles and look amazing is suddenly going to be a fence with probably a tiny potion of wall. Out of all the things I heard trump speak about his most realistic is making it easier to get guns as I'd suggest the culture in the U.S., along with some politicians views on having a gun, will make this not overly difficult. Who exactly is going to back him banning Muslims, he's not even got the support of all the republicans so there's little chance he's going to get the approval needed to do what he claims he will. He's going to realise how difficult/ almost impossible it is to get anything done especially when it is so extreme, that's why I've been saying in 4 years time people who were worrying are going to be thinking why did I waste my time. Hopefully though he has some good ideas that aren't particularly controversial that could benefit the country, tax cuts sounds good if he can make it work, and if he could create jobs by helping out smaller business's then that could be a great benefit too, they kind of ideas are achievable and backable.

I disagree. When people hold racist views, it makes them a racist.

Evolution is a great theory, and even though I disagree with it, some of it i'll admit makes sense. But, they can't go back in time to prove anything - that's why it's still called the 'theory' of evolution....

Which as a believer, wouldn't bono also be anti evolution?

  7. Given how scientifically grounded Bono is, I actually think Bono is pro evolution while also being a believer. As a believer myself, I also trust the theory of evolution, and unlike what some people may say, evolution is not inconsistent with scripture. The reason people struggle to understand evolution in the context of the bible is because they approach the bible as if it were a scientific textbook written by one author. In reality, the bible consists of several books with different authors and each book is written with a different style. Some books are intended to be records, such as Numbers, while others are much more like songs, like Psalms.

Theologians generally agree that Genesis was written as a historical narrative, that is, the purpose of Genesis is to present historical fact in the form of stories. That being said, Genesis is a terrible book to attempt to interpret from a literal standpoint.

Now from the scientific standpoint, discoveries on the absolute cutting edge are pointing to similar conclusions regarding the origins of all matter. What is stunning about this is that these conclusions are coming from quantum physicists studying the smallest particles and astrophysicists studying the cosmos. That conclusion is that all matter in the universe originated from a singular point in time and space. If you distill the creation story in Genesis down to its key points, the main one that stands out is again, a singular origin of everything.

Long story short, Bono probably believes in evolution even as a believer because he understands how to interpret scripture from the correct context, skills that probably make him an amazing song writer.
  8. Can a believer in Christ still be pro LGBT?
  9. Just wondering your take not trying to stir the pot
  10. Ok. Either I worded that wrong or you missed my point. I'm done arguing about this shit. Ya win some, ya lose some.

I do genuinely agree with your post on evolution. Is that a step towards mending fences?
  11. I have no scientific argument for this, but as a believer in Christ, and a person who supports rights for all, I say yes.
  12. I agree.
