1. oh yea, got the tickets as well. Plus, bought myself The Force Awakens on Blu Rey! Can't be more happy about where the universe is going!
  2. Also, what do you guys think about Michael G. scoring Rogue One? I don't there's anyone better for the job! He's the man to take over after Mr. Williams.

I've been getting acquainted with Michael Giacchino's work as he scored the amazing soundtrack for Doctor Strange. I've also listened to his scores on the new Star Trek movies and there are many similarities between the two. Personally, I felt his work on Doctor Strange to be way more impactful than his work on the Star Trek films, mainly because I wasn't convinced Star Trek really benefits from his style. I think Star Wars definitely will benefit from Michael Giancchino's style, though. He likes to build his soundtrack around memorable melodic themes, something that's clearly on display in Doctor Strange, so expect to hear that in the film.

I am curious how much of John Williams' score Giancchino will use. Granted, this is not necessarily connected to the main Star Wars films, but there are still themes that can be built upon... Either way, I think we'll be impressed.

He stated that 95% of score is original. The 5% will re incorporate Williams themes appropriately during the movie. Im assuming the songs you'll hear are The Force Theme, Imperial March and the star wars theme.
