    At the Munich Security Conference, Bono today gave a press conference and appealed not only to the fight against terror, but to support countries economically in order to evade terror.
    In his appeal to the western industrialized countries, Bono urged both the heads of state and the economy to invest in these countries.
    Terror is not just about fighting with arms but with education, jobs and prosperity to give people hope in the future. This would prevent the terror of new arrivals.
    Bono explicitly praised German engagement in Africa and called on the other industrialized countries to invest in the future of the developing countries.

    U2 will release an updated version of "Red Hill Mining Town" to support the upcoming Joshua Tree Tour 2017, according to the newest issue of MOJO magazine.

    The magazine features a lengthy interview with all four band members about the tour and their memories of the time when The Joshua Tree was recorded and released. Near the end of the article is this paragraph:

    "Which explains why, for a brand new mix of Red Hill Mining Town helmed by Steve Lillywhite and earmarked for an upcoming release, Bono has gone back to the master and re-recorded his vocal. 'We've also brought out the colliery brass band which was recorded at the time,' says the singer. 'You can't hear it in the original mix.'"

    The article has no other details about the upcoming release -- no date is given, etc.

    U2's former manager, Paul McGuinness, along with Joshua Tree producers Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois were also interviewed for the feature. It's all in the April 2017 issue of MOJO, which is hitting UK newsstands in the next few days. U2 is on the cover -- the same photo as on the cover of The Joshua Tree. Also included is a U2-themed "Desert Songs" CD, but it doesn't include any U2 tracks.

  9. Rerecording RHMT is about what I'd expect. If they couldn't make it work in 1987, they sure weren't going to be able to do it in 2017 without some reworking. I'm interested to hear it. I love the original but I don't have any special attachment to it, so I'd like to see what the new one sounds like.

  11. They probably can't work out a live arrangement for the original. Re-record it then play that version live. A shame if true.
  12. I've never been fond of RHMT. My least liked song in the album in fact.
    Maybe a new version would help me appreciate it...
    But I agree that it would be a shame for them not to play the original version
