This workes for about 20 minutes and then people suddenly got up from the ground and ran to the front (no divided spaces on the field or 'red zones' or anything back in those days) We almost got squashed, but ended up about 5 or 6 'rows' from the stage.
Exactly. We spent the night before. Then, when they opened the gates it was a free for all and the fastest sprinters made out best anyway. I was right up against the front barrier and was exhausted, but after being there for 24 hours and enduring Buckwheat Zydeco and Los Lobos as the opening acts, the only way you were prying me out of there was if I dropped dead!

Looking back, it was all part of the journey. I'd do it again if I had to... But I'm glad I don't have to!
  2. My first time was the NEC in 1984, that was a free for all when the doors opened

  3. Everything here in the States was for the most part seated shows up until Joshua Tree...

Yes I remember it very well Joost. Rotterdam 2 was my 1st U2 show. They conquered me. I was already a fan but from that time for always. I was also in the 5th or 6th row with some friends. Maybe I've seen you, ha, ha. Everybody got crazy when Bono arrived on stage and song Stand by Me. But the suport act The Pretenders for 1 hour. Chrissie and the band were amazing. What a time that was. This July Amsterdam que maybe few hours. I'll see. So many concerts before that amazing show. By the way, good luck Remi.
  5. Also had the Pretenders at Leeds '87, along with The Fall & The Mission. Always thought The Mission was an odd choice.
  6. Once your in line and get numbered on your hand can you leave the line and come back 30min before gates open?

I saw with Pretenders and UB40 in France...
  8. Lol probably not
  9. You will need to beads in line several hours before the gates open. Whoever is organising the GA queue will set a time.

True this! U2 conquered me too then! I was at Rotterdam 1 btw, so...
But maybe we meet in Amsterdam this year! I will be wearing my (30 year old!) "U2 - Rotterdam Feyenoord Stadium" T-shirt! (a bit risky perhaps in the Amsterdam Arena, but hey.... )
  11. Just two days to go now!!
  12. I'm not traveling anymore, gonna stick around with you guys to watch the opening night!!
